There are plenty of empty businesses in Salamanca - why doesn't the Seneca Nation take these abandoned stores and make outlet stores like they have in Reading. Think the cigarette and gasoline markets are pretty saturated in Salamanca. Time to try something else.

Maybe Carmen could buy up the empty stores and create business opportunities for the white man. He has connections....

Listen - the only way Salamanca is ever going to develop into anything now is if the Seneca Nation takes the initiative and develops beyond the west end. The City isn't going to/ or can't/ or won't develop a city that they are slowing losing. If Salamanca is going to survive under any circumstance, the Seneca Nation is going to have to develop a duty free zone or a tax free outlet. No more cigs and gas - there is way too much of that already. Main Street is a shame - the Nation needs to work on that. The longer the Nation waits, the more it is going to cost. Let's be realistic - the first term of the 40/ 40 is coming to a close. The option to renew is up to the Nation - not the lessees. See all the property popping up for sale around town? It'll be pretty darn hard for folks to get mortgage money on something they will never really own. And if real estate people are telling people any different, they are scamming them. EVERYTHING in Salamanca belongs to the Nation. The Nation should start revitalizing Salamanca now. There is no sense in waiting for the city government to move on anything new. They haven't done it in twenty years - what makes anyone think they will start now?
