Well that's why u shouldn't burn bridges bc what goes around comes around! KARMA!!! But I actually think that's not the ONLY reason why Kim wants to run. Quit feeling threaten, grow up!

Actually I think that's a great idea! Mr Lerma should run for SB and he's a great choice! As long as he implements mandatory football and baseball mathematics tournaments like he did at Dubose. A big shout of to mr L!! Best teacher ever!!!!

I believe we should think of the education of the students that want to learn and not about band boosters or firing coaches. Think of Alice Education System, we are having at least seven students in the top 20 removed yearly because our system is in chaos. They are removed because their parents want their children prepared for college and the real world. They don't care about passing the states required minimum basic skills exams. Our kids should strive for MORE! Can someone tell me of a student who got a full ride because of band or football in the last 10 yrs. Division 3 sports do not give scholarships for sports (that was for the stupid parents that did not do their homework for their kids future)

Some of what you write has merit. Unfortunately the number of students attending school to learn and the number just going through the motions is very disparate. The well worn cliche , "you can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink" applies here. Alice ISD spends a tremendous amount of time and money trying to help students succeed. But unless you have total buy in by the parents and most importantly, the students, it becomes an exercise in futility. But until we have a paradigm shift in which the status quo is no longer tolerated there will just be more of the same.:)

<quoted text>I doubt very seriously if you have more education then I, in fact if you really was as educated as you say, then it shouldn't be very difficult for your "educated" brain to explain your position. Instead, you sound more like a third grader trying to defend your position.
For someone with an education, you should know that it's THAN, not THEN .. Just sayin

it's a fact that the top 30% of your class has support from home parents or brothers and sisters, not all but most, so with this being said that is a large problem is the parents of many of our kids are to busy at the clubs or drinking and working to give a Sh it. jus

Okay Alice, let's get back to business, this forum was started to find out what changes we are going to make in the school board, right now the places that are up for election are Ben Salinas, Wolf Garza, Herman Arellano and Tony Botello places....so we need to decide whether they will be replaced or not....

Don't really know who has filed for re-election except Ben Salinas and a new guy, Hector Villarreal...anyone know who else has filed for sure

I was a student of the 80's. I look around today and really say WTF has happened? I love football as much as the next guy,but this sh*t is way out of control. the kids are like mini thugglets at the high school. Then you go to the elmentary schools and they are trying to "hook up" of course in kiddie ways but still. If we as parents dont put our glory days behind us and start living for our kids.We will certainly get what we deserve in the future. The Alice,Texas i use to live in and know is hell and gone from this present sh*t hole we call home.

the school board is not here to fix your broken homes and raise your kids. It here to set policy and hire a Super, low test scores are the teachers and your kids and blame the state of texas.
