I think you're wrong. I believe there are alot of educated men and women who work in the oil field. Why? Because they are losing their jobs in their career field and can make more money in the oilfield than in the job they went to college for. Just because a person goes to college and gets a degree doesn't guarantee them a high paying job. Don't forget that alot of what you call "sucky oil field jobs" are the bread and butter of our community and most of the state of Texas; because of those jobs, Texas citizens were fortunate to not feel the economic crunch as much as people in other parts of the United States.

Example: I bet almost everyone who has a full time job out in the oil field makes more money than a college graduate who is a teacher. I'm sure there are even high school dropouts making more money than the teachers who tried to help them stay in school.

Southern Comfort, It's nice of u tryin to get out there and just connect with other wives. I'm sure u have a really busy life with kids and all and yeah it can get lonely if no one is there to talk to. Some people may take it offensively in certain comments that are made,but I commend you in your effort to just try to make a friend. Don't feel bad though,just understand that many people have been hurt in some way with this type of job but with the times we live in a job is a job and with good money comes sacrifice. Unfortunatly most of the time it is the ones at home that suffer. Hang in there and it will work out.

Oh wow I just stumbled onto this page and WOW is all I can say....I'm a oilfield wife as well and all u "WOMAN" more like immature bitches think us as " REAL WOMEN" are trash cause our husband's work in the oilfield u are sadly mistaking we r the damn backbone of the oilfield that keep our men going and support them....u girls have absolutely no clue what we go through on a daily bases!!! Our men work there asses off to support their families!! And to top it off there are a lot of men with educations in the oilfield so get Ur shit straight... If u haven't lived this life u don't know what the hell Ur talkin about!
