APD Officer Rodriguez resigns amid allegations of wrongdoing
Texas Rangers investigating

An Alice Police officer resigned Saturday, Dec. 15, after he allegedly entered someone's home and accosted a woman while under the influence of alcohol.

Alex Rodriguez immediately submitted his resignation but remains under investigation for the incident. The City of Alice asked the Texas Rangers to investigate the case.

Rodriguez, who has been on the force for about three years, was not charged Saturday. Chief of Police Danny Bueno said the Texas Rangers will determine the charge.

"It appears in the report,(Rodriguez) was under the influence at the time of the incident," Bueno said. "He just walked into the home."

After walking into the home, Rodriguez got into a bed with a woman.

The woman awoke, realized the man in her bed was not her husband and began screaming. The woman's husband, who was asleep in the home elsewhere, charged into the room and beat Rodriguez, sources say.

Police responded to the call at 2:37 a.m. Saturday in the 500 block of Beckman. Rodriguez was off-duty at the time of the incident. He is a patrolman.

The Alice police report for the incident identifies it as a burglary of a habitation with the intention of committing another felony. The report also indicates the home suffered a broken window.

Officer Nicholas Reyes responded to the call.

On Dec. 9, Rodriguez was part of a panel which spoke to students at Alice High School with truancy problems. He told the students, "Have the integrity to do the right thing at the right time."

I really liked the last paragraph. This really sends the right message to "at risk" kids. I think they should have more "panels" like that. That will send the right message!!!

It's crazy how he was able to just walk into the house. I'm guessing that the door was unlocked being that he walked right in. The other thing that is crazy is that the husband was not sleeping in the bed with his wife.

the house belongs to one of the dispatchers who sleeps with most of the APD, so who knows if he just walked in or was invited

So should we blame the city manager for the intoxication and situation that happened..... Like bars get blamed for DWI deaths??
Lets see what the new DA is going to do. Is he going to be charged with burglary?
