So - killing an inmate warrants the death penalty but gunning down an innocent woman in front of her child does not?? That is insane! Put him in general population and maybe someone will murder him.

Well, hopefully they will send him away for life (without parole). It's sad that we might hope for him killing an inmate in prison, that way he'll truly get what he deserved. This system doesn't make sense alot of the time.

I have said it before. How do you expect a DA that was a public defender to be the type of prosecutor this county needs? Brandenburg's office becomes more and more of a joke day by day. Is it really any surprise that crime is spyrolling out of control in our community?

This is total junk. For it to be aggravated it can be an inmate...but a woman working for a living, supporting herself and her family can't get the same justice as an inmate who committed a crime to be an inmate. I have lived in NM for a year now and I have to say this state is the most liberal, non-enforcing state for criminal acts I have ever seen. too bad it didn't happen in Texas, he would get the express lane to the needle. Wake up legislators. What the heck are the citizens of NM paying you for. Get off your lazy rears and change the laws to actually make them stick....it doesn't mean a thing on paper...but you start enforcing it....it will mean something this dirt bags like Power.

There is no life without parole in New Mexico. I always read that the Brandenburg is not doing her job, but she was reelected to the office just this year.

My thoughts are, too, that she wasn't just killed in front of her son, but her whole family. It was a family business, and they were all working at the time. Her mother was cradling her in her arms when she was found. Sick, sick, sick. From what I've heard, she was the sweetest woman, too.
If not death, then the absolute worst penalty possible. Hopefully, his arrogant little, "want to take a picture of my p*n*5" attitude will not go over well in prison. I hope he drops the soap a lot, too.

Why, are you a murderer like him? Doesn't have one thing to do with his ethnicity. But comments like yours are what makes YOU look bad.

If he doesn't get the death penalty and Skaggs and Bloomfield do, then something is definitely wrong with this picture

Don't like it -- change the law or quit whining - YOU are responsible for the laws of the State, not Ms Brandenburg: She simply enforces them as written.

Most of the problem with this kid, lies with CYFD and not our adult system. This kid was already in the system as a juvenile. CYFD is a joke and Richardson's Secretaries (Bolson and Dotson) have only made things worse. If you look at the recidivism rate of our juveniles (more than 80%), it's enough to make you puke! This kid should have been on mandatory, weekly probation, with drug testing & weekend community service.

When speaking of the Death Penalty, "Revenge killing," won't bring that poor girl back. But, at least one full year of rectum rape will be pretty harsh!!! He may think he's a city tough, with street cred., but when he's, "Pickin' up the soap," his outlook on life should change drastically!

Post # 9 hit it right on...it's the legislators that are supposed to represent the cititzens and pass new laws...what they are doing or not doing is anybodys guess.
