Taco, you just proved my point! Yes, there are flaws in the system. Being overweight or a wanabe has nothing really to do with the media's poor reporting of this story. No, shooting someone in the back is not tha answer. As you know that is a last resort option if anyone's life is at risk.

In my original report on Tuesday, I mentioned a reputable security company and how it was unfair for it to be following the law. Please see my original report Security: http://kob.com/article/stories/S503956.shtml... |

Of course there are good companies and good guards who do everything properly and protect the public in Albuquerque and New Mexico.
There has been almost no press on the bad companies and the bad things going on- ever. There has been no pressure on RLD. Previously- for the last eight years- they have ignored my 100 or so complaints about bad companies. Felons arrested on duty in security uniforms with a gun? Yea it happened to Tyree AppleBerry in Albuquerque while he was working for Elijah Alexis (ESI Investigations and Security). The NM PI Board was made aware of it as well as RLD and did anything happen? No. Tyree was extradited back to Georgia where he belongs but nothing happened to this unlicensed security company owner who employed this guy. Is that OK? Was the public at risk? We are lucky that he didn't kill someone. What about the security company owner that has a license right now who used forged documents to get his license. Is that OK? Complaints were made to RLD starting in January 2007, the NM Attorney General in December 2007. Do you feel safer knowing that this is happening or should we just not talk about it because you don't want the industry portrayed in a bad light? I think anyone with a brain knows that security is necessary and that there are many good companies and brave officers fighting the good fight in New Mexico. I am thankful for the media attention to this problem because it has opened peoples eyes to a problems that effects all New Mexicans. 1 The whole industry is a damn JOKE! |
I think you have Jeremy confused with Gadi Schwartz. He's the one at the Trigo Fire who snuck around the barricades |
Can't pick on Jojola as most of them have 2 dimensional reporting. They never seem to cover all the aspects to it.
1. They report about Microchipping a dog. They leave out the dyslexic Abbott & Costello process that everyone should know but then wait and learn the hard way. 2. The Tv Digital Conversion. Yeh it's coming alright. Bet nobodys knows those $40 credit card coupons have an expiration date & most of them havre already expired! It just goes on and on |

JEREMY ...JEREMY....JEREMY First of all security officers cant arrest you they can detain you for a reasonable amount of time and they better be able to explain why they did.....secondly your report says " they can pull a gun on you" they can but in the context it seems like your telling everyone that every security guard is a danger to the citizens of Albuquerque.,,, thirdly you mentioned a company that is licensed "summit" of course you did the fairly new company with an old owner… this company is owned by R. Hammic the same owner of "EVEREST" security that is no longer in business but your investigative skills didn’t report that. Mr. Hammic likes to point out that all other companies have been sued but does not mention how his old company was involved in more law suits then all the other companies combined. need I remind you also that just because a company has a license doesn’t make them good Everest security also had one of their officers killed on duty and before that I can’t remember the last time one was killed, his wife was given a job so she wouldn’t sue and then when the statue of limitations was long gone she was fired, He was in the business for over ten years. Ask Mr. Hammic about the great training they had when a security officer out getting his handgun qualification shot himself in the leg and wisent taken to the hospital or a report filed. this whole not licensed reporting is a great thing but has turned into one long destroy everyone you can campaign by Mr. hammic disguised by I want to protect the citizens of new Mexico...that a crock....if Mr. hammic had not burned his bridges as Everest security he wouldn’t have to worry about losing business and if he would put half the energy into marketing and going out and talking to clients and not using the Bernalillo county sheriff’s department and KOB Mr. hammics blogs his puppets doing h is dirty work to destroy his competition with several untruths or making things seem what they aren’t while he sits at home writing his blog he would have plenty of business. Also Mr. Jojoba why don’t you look into why he left the sheriff’s department ...maybe because he was asked to leave...would he not have been able to serve the public in an actual position of law enforcement??? so that this is not all negative I do commend you and Mr. hammick on getting rid of national security and the other fly by night companies but there’s a lot here that has been unsaid...for all the cops and security officers out there 48 watch your six...Mr. hammick just might be on your six |

a security officer can arrest a person by the same right any other citizen can make a citizen's arrest. when an arrested person is transferred to police custody, the officer is only a custodian--the arresting person still fills out an arrest report and still testifies in court. why would you say something so dumb? |
and in fact, to argue that guards have less rights is quite the opposite from the truth. who else in society can stop a citizen and demand to search their belongings? the courts have held it is a security guard's right. who else is able to detain a person on a "reasonable suspicion"? at least police need to have "probable cause". and in most states, gun control laws are bypassed by many guards. there is a good reason guards are required to pass stringent guidelines for the job they hold. they are afforded rights beyond even those of police officers. |
stan I would not argue that they have more rights as they cannot violate civil rights,,,, but this is primarily the reason that theres problems with security officer acting like cops alot of it starts with the lingo as you well know i never told a cop I searched the subject, I would tell them I conducted a safety pat down for weapons and the news storie should have said that they can arrest for a felony and should have been specific as to the citizens arrest. if guards arent careful they can be arrested for unlawful detainment as the definition of citizens arrest is
common law rule whereby a private citizen may effectuate an arrest under two circumstances: there is a felony being committed in his presence, or when a felony has in fact been committed whether or not in his presence and the arrester has reasonable ground (probable cause) to believe the person he arrests has committed it; or a misdemeanor is being committed in the presence or view of the arrester which amounts to a breach of the peace. believe me in court detainment for the proper authorities with reasonable time goes alot easier in court then I arrested the suspect because the next question from the lawyer will be are you a cop??,,... |

police arresrt people and security can detain within reason. I agree that robb hamic has turned this whole good thing into one big commercial for Summit and aint it wierd tha when theres so many comapnies out there the newest one of them is the one that makes the news not one of the older companies?? seems like KOB, hamic, and jojola are all in bed together lol. by the way that comany Pro Force has also been sued several times
