Standish fights for prison

Friday, June 12, 2009 at 4:20 p.m. Hundreds rally to save a MidMichigan prison. The Standish Maximum Correctional Facility is slated to close, along with 7 others across the state.

Why are they trying to close Standish MS when there puting outher places are being to max over load My son is in a prison for failing to report and is in Jackson and a cell made for 4 will have 8 befor the first of July. The Gov is putting them as risk for what and top it off no sping sys working Why. The police will be cut this weekin for what to let prisoner to be let used

all I got to say is are they nuts?! Thats a lot of jobs taken away from many people who depended on that job. there were enough people laid off because of the GM shutting down and now this? I didn't work there but I know a few that did and with out that job they are hurt pretty bad in income. Did any one think about how many families are will be going without a home, food, clothes and other important things? apparently not or this would've happened

think of the men who are doing time in standish max for child suport and drunk driveing or for pissing off a co in a low security prison. i know a lot of co/s AKA turnkeys who work at that prison and most of the ones i know drink and drive on the daily not to mention there walkin round tring to puff out there chest like there better than some one. acting as if thay protect us. somone hurts my child or my lady, i dont need a cop a turnkey or a prison to redeem my family or me, ill deal with it my self. that prison is nothing moor than a torture chamber,i know cuz iv seen it. iv been inside those walls not as an inmate but as a worker an i seen crual and unusaule punishment and assult being extended to a numer of inmates by a number of co/s. id have to say that sitting in a cell 23 hours of every day of a mans life is punnishment enough for what ever crime was commited. why beat or torture or mase or electrcute?? it makes no sence to me. it makes no sense to me to take from someone there licence to drive or even there freedom cuz thay failed to pay childsuport, but what do i know.who does this all benifit but the cops and the courts, certanly not the children. im a thirtyfive year old single father of two,a three year old girl and four year old boy.crimes will NEVER be commited against them wile thay live in my home cuz i wont allow it.id bleed for or even die for my babys at any givein moment.what im saying is brothers and sisters, take care of your own family, dont depend on a court or a cop or even a prison to defend you or yours.youll only end up disapointed.after all, it was a snitch who sold out our lord an savior an it was a pile of cops who beat an tourtured him for hours befor thay murderd him.nothing much has changed since then.our govrnment is still ran by tyrents and we are are still slaves to them.freedoms only in our hearts.iv worked my hands till thay bled and when there was no work to be found i stood on the bread lines with my kids, let them cops stand on the bread lines with theres like the common mans forced to.. i hope something i said means something to someone. i know what its like to suffer and iv felt what tourture and crual and unusual punnishment are all about and i know what its like to have my cival rights destroied by local law inforcement.... let the closeing of standish max be a steping stone. as soon as were able to rid our town of this corupt court house an police dep we may be able to save some money for our childres future rather than spending it on the corupt an there familys. qwote of the day///// be a leader not a follower for if you follow the herd youll always step in crap. sincerly, freedom

hes absolutly right. what exactly are the police and law enforcers protecting? nothing. they arrive at the scence AFTER the crime has been done. standish max is nothing but a waste of money. and everyone who is in that prison that will be released after it closes are people like freedom said, people who didnt pay child support, drunk drivers...ect. the people who are in there for things like rape and child molesters are being transfered to a different max. so...FUCK STANDISH MAX AND THE PIGS LOOSING THEIR JOBS!!!

Now that the priosn is being closed, why not do something good with the property and good for the community? The prison could be used to grow medical marijuana, it would be the perfect spot for it, it is a good locked, and secure facility. Many in Michigan may not have the space available in their homes or apartments to grow their medicine and the prison would serve that purpose well. Other areas of the prison could also be used to teach agriculture classes for growing medical marijuana and other classes for culinary and also research for agriculture and medical advancement. Arenac needs to be the front runner at something, give this community something it can be proud of and give students the opportunity at learning skills that will ensure them gainful employment, while doing something good to help others and the community. Keep the feds out, and progress for a good cause...let freedom and Arenac County Grow!
