Mark Mahoney isn't paying the price YET. Maybe he'll just get a slap on the wrist but I hope they throw the book at him. So what if he's a cop? I don't care if he was the president...he deserves to pay the price. All those Hornell cops think they're above the law and I'm glad to see them shot down a peg or two.

10-1 he gets away with it!!!!
I'm surprised they arrested him in the first place.
Whatever happened to cops having cops backs? Better hope the pig that arrested him isn't in need of help for any reason!

TO WHOEVER WROTE THIS YOU WROTE THE TRUTH AND NOTHING BUT THE TRUTH...IF THIS WAS SOME 16-95 YEAR OLD PERSON DRINKING AND DRIVING THEY WOULD GO TO JAIL PAY FINES AND MORE.I KNOW I WAS A VICTIM AND IT WASNT RIGHT FOR PULLING ME OUT OF A HOUSE AND WHAT NOT TO GIVE ME A DWI...HE SHOULDNT BE ABLE TO GET A SLAP ON THE WRIST HE SHOULD GET MORE JUST LIKE ANYONE ELSE.

I have known Mark Mahoney for years before I moved away. This is definitely not the first time he's been out drinking and driving. I imagine he's gotten "a pass" many times. Glad it all came back to meet him! Hopefully he will learn his lesson!!

So what did happen? I am sure this went to court already. I personally think Mahoney is a descent cop I agree he shouldn't get special consideration. However I just moved back to the area and read this. Oh and what does Marks brother have anything to do with this?

Good guy, he has helped a lot of people. Every one of us has made a mistake, his turn this time. Let him have his day in court!!

Who ever said he doesn't deserve his day in court? He just does not deserve special treatment. I too would like to know what happened but I am sure it won't be released.

Yeah, the Hornell PD. Arrogant as always. He should get 12 months probation, suspended license, 25 hrs Comm Svc.(to be done in another community within Steuben County, or even Allegany County, so that he gets no free ride and no hours knocked off.) The Aini's....jokes. Call them "Hineenee's." Both are ignorant pricks. I know about 300 people in line to whip Tom's brother Pat's a$$, I among them. Patience is a virtue. Holier than thou they try to appear, but as usual the PD sets a bad example that the public has to pay for. They will say, "oh, he made a mistake!!" Do they say that when we do it? NOPE!!!! We shall see if the system is fair. In the meantime, try and catch Pat Aini slamming a 15 year old child's head cuz he got mad.

As far as I know nothing came of this. He was allowed to retire and keep his pension, that was his punishment, not get fired like any town official should get when they do something like this. What kind of community will not punish its officials yet will severely punish the average joe?? Hornell, that is the place, and Steuben County in general seems to be rather light on the people who make mistakes, unless you are selling drugs, then they throw you in jail for a long time, prison I mean, since there is a difference between prison and conty jail. County jail is reserved for child molesters and other sex offenders, they do 6 months to a year and come home on probation for about 5-10 years. But if you sell drugs you are the worse person, you deserve prison. Seems kinda backwards to me since a lot of people who sell drugs are addicts, and that isn't a crime, you need therapy not prison. They should stop wasting tax dollars and start sending the real criminals to prison, the ones who are hurting the children, raping and molesting, not people who are addicts trying to support their habits. At least they aren't out touching kids and stuff.

My heart goes out to Mark and his family. No one knows what they have been going through. The Mahoney's have been a great family in Hornell for many year's. Alcoholism is a disease and Mark has been getting help. He has done a lot of good for the Hornell community over the years. For those of you that do care, his brother had a traumatic brain injury as a child, and several accidents since making him unable to work. Please do not be the first to through stones.
