WARNING! Stay away from Ensemble Elan. Very unorganized - does not pay the musicians despite having a contract and waits until the last minute to set up music and all details. Unreliable!

Ensemble Elan recently played at my wedding ceremony and they were wonderful! I found them to be professional, courteous and lovey to work with. I would highly recommend them to any Bride or client looking for reliable musicians who understand all the details of live music.

I could not disagree more. I found Ensemble Elan to be very organized and nothing was last minute about the music for our wedding ceremony. I also found them to be very reliable, professional and they play beautifully.

Ensemble Elan recently played at my parent's 50th Wedding Anniversay and they were fantastic! My entire family found them to be extremely easy to work with and our guests loved their varied repertoire. They not only played our classical favorites but also the pieces that were popular when my parents were dating. It could not have been more perfect. Julie, the director, had such a clear understanding of what we wanted and responded to our stress of such an important event with the utmost care and concern.

Well, despite what Ms. Neiman and Ms, Pollard have to say about this ensemble, I am yet ANOTHER musician who has worked for this group. I can wholeheartedly confirm the earlier posting. I am one of the MANY musicians who have not been paid by Ensemble Elan and I could provide a near endless list of others. I also have been called regularly the night before a wedding, by a panicky director. The alternate scenario is that you are contracted for the wedding, but the musicians are trying on the morning of the event to track the director down for directions to the venue. You have no idea how badly run this group is. If you did know, you would NEVER hire them.
That being said, I am glad both your events went off well. You were lucky.

Sounds like maybe you didn't make the cut for Ensemble Elan's standards. Perhaps a little practice might help. Just a thought.

Uh... THAT was a nasty comment! Sounds funny, perhaps, but what Ensemble Elan does is far from amusing.

I, too, am another professional musician who was never paid for a gig for this group.(I know of several others). The director, Julie Zupan, is an unscrupulous person who thinks nothing of stiffing her players. She's NOT well-organized; if the events go off well, THANK THE MUSICIANS SHE HIRED and give them a tip personally -- it might be the ONLY MONEY THEY EVER SEE FOR THEIR WORK!!!!

This woman should be ashamed for cheating people like myself who work hard and need money to pay their bills, etc. None of us is a millionaire.

IF anyone chooses to hire this group, know what you're getting -- and what you're inadvertently aiding and abetting.

By the way, Zupan and her Ensemble Elan has branched out and now stiffs musicians in Massachusetts, primarily Cape Cod, where I played for her in Chatham back in 2007.

Ensemble Elan recently played at my wedding ceremony and I could not have been more pleased. In fact, they were one of my favorite vendors. The director, Julie Zupan, was pleasant to work with, extremely helpful, professional and prompt with any requested replies.

When I read in between the lines of the negative comments above, I wonder if it is problems of the past or internal issues. With that said, the musicians were lovely and their talents shined through to create a beautiful experience for us on our wedding day. Thank you Ensemble Elan!

Couldn't agree with music1 more! It's very difficult reaching the director, and she always sounds distracted/uninterested. They showed up late and disorganized.
