Office is discustting, appointments are pointless because the wait is longer than any customer service call you'll ever make, staff speaks everything but english, exams done by nurses not a docter air conditioning is an advancement they've yet to embrace miss an appiontment and they'll report ya to SS's.though I've never been to one but I bet there's nicer UN medical tents in the Congo, probably a profitable bussiness for who wasn't even there the only 2 I've been. The waiting room probably spreads more disease than the office cures.truly a step back

Dr. Welman has been my kids' pediatrician for almost two years. She is really, really great. We do have to wait a while to be seen sometmes if we come in late, but i think they give priority to really sick kids (we've only gone for a few sick visits, mostly check ups) and they also have a walk-in clinic for newborns. I love the newborn clinic idea--I was able to get appointments when my daughter was a newborn but I liked knowing I could just show up if I was already out and decided we needed to see the doctor (sounds weird but when you are juggling multiple kids, sometimes being able to do stuff when it's convenient is really helpful).
I don't think the waiting room is dirty, just not new or fancy. Honestly any waiting room is kinda gross...a bunch of sick people hang out there. At the clinic she's at now, they have a separate area for sick people to sit, although I don't know if the people really follow it.
We have been seen by nurses at the old practice (on glebe rd) but never at the Casey Clinic (the one at the hospital). I was pretty impressed with the nurse practitioners at Glebe--we saw one when my daughter had an emergency and she was really thorough, and then helped us get in right away with a specialist. there are medical assistants that do some of the basic stuff (blood pressure, etc.) and they're fine.
Dr welman herself is a really great doctor--one of my favorite that we have gone to (for me or my kids). Really friendly, helpful, respectful, takes her time with patients, and can always give a reason for what she is doing if you ask.(because I'm "that mom" that asks a million questions). I was worried when the kids went on Medicaid that they wouldn't be able to get good care but Dr. Welman is really good.
