I can't understand for the life of me why anyone would want to put up with the unecessary annoying and deafening nuicanse stemming from Jake brakes.
Did you know it's considered a "public nuisance" if your life is in any way endangered, if it renders you in any way insecure in life or in the use of your property. Did you that if it annoys or endangersthe comfort, repose, health or safety of others it is considered a nuisance.
Why doesn't the city of Parkston signs posted to prohibit the use of Dynamic engine brakes?
If no one complains, they won't do anything. Don't let this go. Do dona't have to put up with this crap. You can go to Noiseoff.org and get all the info out there including how excessive noise alters our lives. So do something. I know you can hear these trucks 24/7 and gthey don't have to use the Jakes for stopping on level ground. Call Hohn Hazen, HUtchinson County Highway Superintendent for additional facts.
Jake brakes are a saftey device to avoid runaway trucks on hills and to save the regular brakes.
Most truckers will tell you theyhave to use them because of all the weight behind them. Well guess what, if you afre going fast enough to have to use the Jakes, you are going too fast. We have speed limits and most truckers don't drive them anyway. Now they are gonna cut the Highway Patrol Budget and leave us with speeders, drunks and other lawbrakers to deal with.
We have rights as citizens and one of which is the right to peace and quiet in our own homes.
Tell me you never heard these trucks roaring to an intersection and weren't annoyed by the noise, well that is not normal engine noise and you don't have to put up with it.
I can hear these truckers from four miles awayat the interesection of 44 and 81 and you can only imagine how loud they are only a quarter of a mile away. Most of the trucks have straight stack, which means the noise resonates even more.
So it's up to you folks to decide, Live with earplugs in your ears all day long because you can't even hear yourself think or do something about it.
