Bill Ingebrigtsen voted NO on the regulation of puppy mills in Minnesota in March, 2009, even though dogs/puppies and cats/kittens were being tortured in his district!!! We have a chance to have these horrible places shut down. Your Legislature will vote on this Bill again SOON. Write your Legislature, tell them to please help stop this horrible act!!! My 2 cats thank-you!!

It's just window dressing and a platform for the radical environ-mental-cases anyway. Defund it, eliminate corporate taxes, and let's start helping this economy recover from unchecked liberalism.

Cat-lover; I do not see the connection of cats, dogs or dolphines with the topic. But then the arrogance of some is a huge problem in the environment, such as cat-poop in the storm sewers. Perhaps a mandatory cat diaper on all felines with-in the city limits would be an appropriate mission of the committee.

Strange question, but wouldn't the article have been more interesting if they had listed the projects that were taken off the "funded" list and those that were added? By not including the list it strictly pits those on the left versus those on the right. Why not list the programs so people can decide if they agree with the legislators? Once again, poor journalism. At least that is my opinion.

These two leaders are on the right track. These dollars are needed for projects today. Future development and research are very nice and pivotal, but in tight budgets you simply focus on NEEDS not wants. Thanks to Denny and Bill for their leadership.

Good for those guys. NOT ONE DIME should be wasted on the global warming scam. "Research dollars" are another scam worthy of Bernie Madoff. Of course, the more they research the more research they need. There is NEVER a research project that determines that we don't need to spend more money because there is no problem, it just keeps building and building. Scientists have become w h o r e s, just doing it for the $$$!

Good point Bob, the poor editing at the PP wouldn't give a passing grade at a high school newspaper. Who, what, when, where, why,.....etc. They always miss one or more of the basics.

Sounds like the Co-Chair Mr. Broberg is qualified, and is at least making sure the money is spent on projects that can make an impact on our environmemt. Glad it's not some of our politicians.

Rep. Denny McNamara, R-Hastings is in 'the pocket' of the highly corrupt-alliance found in MN's: energy, utilities ('dam-projects'), waste mgt.(burning for 'energy'), public-project/land-building developers (using toxic-ash for all building-aggregates), and OUR govt.-reps/'approve-board members'... just follow the fixed-bid contracts ala laundered 'kick-backs' to his campaigns & private-biz 'endeavors'.

Heck- he might even be like the mayor of Burnsville, another outright V.P. at Hartford Group, Inc./Brandt Co.'s (land-building pub.-project developers- they brought us ALL our new 'city centers', mega-priced liqour stores, and transit-facilities)... check out the city council of Apple Valley too...(mayor/ex-nurse/now 'general-contractor consultant'; councilmembers: Grendahl: an 'approving', UofMN project-board chair/2, private-'HVAC' biz' owned- nioce kickbacks! as their subcontractor for all those geo-therm/other huge $$-systems for their build-projects); another long-time, councilmem/ex-'gov. consultant'...) If your not the one they got into office, well- they'll make sure you get that 'biz-startup grant via their people in 'community-org.s' like the Knights Columbus...~Just follow the fixed-bids/laundered tax-$$$-kickbacks.

~THAT IS- IF your NOT a 'tissue' anymore Pioneer!!!!

Tooner, our dirty-gov.-reps just ABUSE 'the regulations'(or make-up new ones, if needed) to ensure their FIXED-BID/kick-backs happen... smaller, honest bizs do NOT stand a chance.

SPOT-ON! And- it 'aint new: Back in 1991, gave them the 'lead' on our toxic-ash buildings and roads.... nadda! Very shortly, this will make 'asbestos' seem like the good ol' days...(they also burn/'recycle' the super-fund site toxins into the 'fly-ash-aggregates'; million-mile roads, stadiums, New Orleans, a thousand 'town-centers',(Haiti?), etc. are now built with the stuff; esp. bad in known salinated-sheds: it accelerates release of the toxins.)

WELL SAID- BUT in MOST cases- DEAD WRONG... How long will it take YOU and other 'floater' to check-out NASA's satellite-pics AND the site-study findings of our SUPER-ACCELLERATED, glacier- and polar-cap melts... you're a smart person, WE NEED YOU to HELP slow-er-down... STOP bein' a 'FLOATER', flaunting blatant-ignorance, EDUCATE YOURSELF to 'get on-board for some REAL (NOT BS!! "CO2-credits"!) solutions.(e.g. the accelerated cap-melts shove fresh-water UNDER "super-cold" salted, it rises to surface-our 'climate-system'/the trade-winds, are quickly SUPER-COOLING/SHIFTING-)...

NMWTCHDG, So- You think using enviro-$$ to build a multi-bazillion$$-dam to 'stop Asian carp'(already KNOWN not to make didle-squat-diff AND already KNOWN to damage the enviro: chg.s-mixes watershed organisms: MORE 'invasive species'; kills-off mega-fauna via 'altered migration-paths'; causes 'unnatural floods' needing MORE tax-$$!; and IS a BLATANT multi-bil$ tax-GIVEAWAY to the corrupt, elec.-energy slimeguys) IS 'better' than a couple hun-tho-tax-$ to have our bio-researchers coordinate with those who KNOW all about the carp in Japan for an EASIER, REAL-solution... Right?!

this is bad writing...and didn't clarify the who's who or the what's what.

statements like :
When former Gov. Tim Pawlenty urged revamping a legislative advisory panel on environmental spending in 2004, he decried the politics many critics said had been influencing its decisions.

are then followed by:
Who's the target of the accusations this time? Republicans...

are we to understand that the author didn't know that Pawlenty was a Repub as well? How about saying it correctly:
Fast forward seven years and critics once again are pointing to Republican politics attempting to derail scientific research and influence future funding for environmental research.

I hope McNamara has to eat his words: "I'm sorry folks, the rules changed on Nov. 2 last fall" when he faces his own eventual removal from the political landscape

we need people on both sides who will serve the interests of the people - not just the people who vote for them.
