but I have to read my book, put on my makeup, answer the phone and eat my breakfast while driving to work in the morning...now you tell me I have to watch out for the other guy?!?!?!?!
.
Come on people, put the stuff away, get ready for work before you leave home and pay attention while you are driving. Better yet get on the bus and let someone else drive

not sure why this is a shock. Just look around you, or don't as that isn't safe, but say you are at a light. The chances someone is actually watching the light and not distracted are small. Is this the wake up call we need so maybe a few of
these folks can get a ticket???

I agree with all the posts but would like to add it's important that folks in the non-adjacent lane slow down and space out, so that drivers in the lane next to the trooper can switch.

The other thing that plays on this is, of course, the snowy weather/crappy roads/limited visibility. Please pay attention out there, for the safety of all.

So Citizen Joe,,,how do you propose Troopers "move it" when they're sitting at a scene where the driver who "hit a patch of black ice" crashed into the cable barrier/jersey barrier/another vehicle or end up stuck in the ditch? Should they just drive by and call them/you a tow truck? I'm sure you'd bitch then too. Ignorance is not bliss.

The troopers should press the legislature to ban cell phones while driving. Period.

People who don't move over are morons. And there are a LOT of them.

Also, you're NOT supposed to STOP on the freeway to let an emergency vehicle pass! Move over to the right!!!

It's annoying having to share the road with people who don't pay attention, aren't insured, or just don't know the rules.

Make the dang driving test harder. Ugh, IDIOTS I tell ya!!! haha

I think everyone should have to retake there drivers test every 10 years. People in general have no clue how to drive anymore - remember driving is a privilege not a right and maybe if more people were ticketed for the stupid things they do they might actually pay attention to there driving a little more.

Stupid, idiotic mindless drivers. They have no sense of momentum, force and distance. Idiots all and I hope they serve time and have to pay plenty.

I am a bit confused as to why people are blaming the troopers? They are only doing there job by pulling people over for doing something illegal or responding to an emergency situation. People need to take accountability for being idiots and pay attention to your surroundings while driving! Frustrating how there are so many law enforcement haters there are yet they are the first ones to cry for help! Get a life people!

drivers to cops get off the road
The reason why any State Trooper or police office parks the way they do when doing a road-side ticket or at the scene of the accident is to offer some protection for themselves and the other vehicles involved. It's pretty much standard procedure for any law enforcement agency.

I don't think anyone is deliberately trying to hit the troopers, so these are truly accidents. The problem is that in the metro area it is tough to move over, particularly when the weather is bad. Many people slow down, but does it really make a difference whether you hit the trooper at 40 MPH instead of 55? One habit I have noticed is that even if that the violator will pull over completely, the troopers tend to not pull off as far, many times being in the traffic lane when there is plenty of room on the shoulder. Why do they do that?

The penalty for hitting someone (especially a trooper with lights on) should be a loss of license for one full year, re-take drivers education, and pay FULL restitution for the damage.
