Building the community college at /or near LSU-A makes so much more sense than building it in downtown Alexandria.
Building it between Murray Street and Jackson Street will probably only result in the enrichment of some-well connected property owners.

Of course your suggestion makes sense.
However, the decision to locate it downtown was made before the intent to build a new facility was announced. It's like thinking of a solution and then finding a problem that can work within it.
I would challenge the Mayor and Council to conduct a poll asking citizens how often they have or would visit downtown as opposed to west of Bolton Ave.
Besides, none of the old blood owns land south of Alexandria,
and there are no significant political contributions to be had from farmers.

Lets see how this plays out. Probably some jewish property owners or some old time money in Alex are going to win big.
