State Police fines
Say what

Fort Necessity, LA

#1 Jun 7, 2014
The La. legislature bassed a law increasing fines for no insurance by $53 million/year. The money will raise salaries for Troopers, District Attorneys and Sheriffs.
There's a problem with the logic here.
The fines are being increased to motivate drivers buy auto insurance.
The more drivers who get insurance, the less revenue this new law will take in on violations. It's non-reoccuring revenue.
The pay raises will begin, the fine revenues will drop and they'll be crying that they have to cut salaries of lay off employees because less than the predicted $53 million would be realized.
These folk need lessons in logic.
Perfect example....Woodworth. They budget more than a million/year in traffic fines. Fewer drivers speed through Woodworth. Yet the income from fines remains the same. How? Mayor Butler raises the cost per ticket, extends the town limits and instructs his officers to write tickets on even the most simple violations.
Shame on Boss Butler, his police dept, and every woodworth citizen who benefits from these extortion tactics.
