I have personally worked for Chief Rouse for 8 years and he is a great guy to work for. He has a great attitude and has made positive changes in our department. It's always rewarding to come to work for him. He is a great administrator and a policemen's policeman, and a friend. He cares about the community and definitely cares about his officers. He even puts on a uniform and comes out on third shift to work the road/ calls with us during nights and weekends. I have never heard of any other Chief that does this. He has an open door policy and will sit down and talk to anyone, treat them with respect and make a friend of them. If anyone has any questions about how he is, feel free to ask me. I would work for Chief Rouse any day. Please vote for him in the upcoming Campbell County Sheriff's election. If he gets elected Sheriff, the deputies/ officers, the communities, and businesses will only benefit. I definitely feel the County needs a change.

Dear F Thomas South,
Well, I have to thank you for agreeing with me in theory. However, I never named names, never attacked anyone directly (indirectly yes). I will agree with you on sveral issues.......first- I think I made my point (and you reinforced it) that the "current asst chief" will in fact waste tax dollars trying to track down the internal leak. However, it did not come from within the Dept. Also, the current administration will in fact waste countless hours trying to discipline the officers for something that they had no hand in. Additionally, I totally agree that change is needed at CCPD, and talk of a merger is the best fix in my opinon as well. This did "stir the hornets nest" much as I had intended it to. The truth needed to get out and right now seems like the most effective time. Thank God we live in America where some of the values that my forefathers established still exist. THE RIGHT TO FREE SPEECH. However, the current employees (cops) at CCPD have no voice whatsoever. They are also "tagged" for speaking out.

I would also like to commend you for stateing that we should attack this through the current County Judge Execs level..........although this never gets a response due to the turning of the head that was mentioned by the current CJE. CCPD officers have worked thier butts off through the years, trying to be the best LEO that they can......limited by the administrations unwillingness to accept change and "get up to speed". The individual who placed a plug for the "current sheriff" on her.....obviously has no clue about what the county truly needs in terms of a LEO leader. I will say.......I totally agree with both platforms of the guy running for sheriff and the guy running for CJE in this years election. This is at the very least......some forward thinking and a breath of fresh air that both the citizens and officers need. There are many officers who have run away from this current adminstration......not as cowards....but because they were simply able to move elsewhere. One could say " well they should have stuck it out and saw what change could happen" . But......the change never occurs, the current officers are basically "stuck" there, the one who do get out would rather be serving the communities where they live but just cannot bring themselves to serve under such "bafoons".

Also, HHSPA does have a high number of officers, but the Dept appears to be run as "a well oiled machine". Officers are given the opportunity to run at thier own pace and get the job done with truly amazing results. They have taken the "merger" concept to a new level .......and it is working. In these difficult economic times.....it just make sense. However, the $$$$$$$ wasted on certain positions within CCPD make NO SENSE WHATSOEVER. Thank for you administrative imput........it was never my intent to totally "go against the grain" in every adminstrative aspect. But I did fully intend to EDUCATE / EXPOSE / and STIR the NEST (CCPD). You will have to admit.....in my defense.....it gets people thinking.

The people who have gotten on here and attacked persons by naming names.....played right into the current adminstrations hand........ Although the names that were named (officers, not administrators) were most likely put there by persons who are offended by the TRUTH and are clearly in the current administrations camp.I can almost assure you that those officers will unfairly be seeked out by the administration and delt with eventually. This is the "mentality" that I have been referring to all along. If the current chief would only stand up and take control instead of standing back and pointing fingers for fear of involving himself in an executive decision, this would be some type of change. The problem lies therein with him.......the one who rules with an iron fist......wasting tax dollars on meaningless investigations of his own officers. Many of the discipline issues raised her could have been delt with completly different and not resulted in the removal of officers with countless years of experience. Forgive me for coming from the school of thought of trying to "fix the problem" rather than getting exicted over the prospect of ridding myself of an officer that I do not like or agree with. Is it not what has made our country as a whole the best place in the entire world to live.......a mixture of people with diffent ideas and concepts? Time for a change...I totally agree......time for the guys at the top to retire, let some fresh air in there.

Agree with me or not.......at least it is getting some attention. However, this like most things in the County Govt will get ignored, get swept under the rug. Hell, they'll probably set up another series of "feel good meetings" with a former police chief in Covington......again, in an atempt to "get to the bottom of this". Thats the problem........they will not listen to the officers. They dont care what they have to say. They do not understand what the officers are dealing with everyday. They are only concerned with making life as difficult as possible for them until they conform. They attack them on every level, even when they slip and suffer a small indiscrepency.....they see this as an opportunity to weed that little bad apple out. Instaed they should focus attention on re-building that officers confidence and assuring him/her that they stand behind them 100%. It makes NO SENSE WHATSOEVER. There are no officers out there who have not done at least one questionable thing in their career. Question is........were they caught?.....if so........were they disciplined and everyone moved on? Why is it CCPD focuses on ALL THINGS NEGATIVE? Because they choose not to listen to their people. Time for change.

John Dunn a better man for sheriff? John is a very good man and he and I have been good friends for many years. However, this is not the issue. First, the Sheriff's Office belongs to the people not the sheriff. If people are satisfied with the way it is, donít change a thing. However, I am one of those people and feel differently. I think we need to move towards consolidation of services, not only within the county, but with all cities as well. By pooling resources, we make it more cost effective for everyone. So, letís keep our eye on the ball [i.e., saving money, making a more efficient department, and removing the divided agencies that donít even communicate with each other]. And by the way, I am a good man too.

I'm pretty sure it's "Oh My God" with a capitol "G". And I dont know where you get your information, but the City of Wilder P.D. has a very good P.D.. Since noone else will say it.........The current Sheriff of Campbell County....is a drain on the County and an embaressment to Law Enforcement. Has everyone forgotten that just a few years ago his own wife was arrested for cocaine possession. The CCSD has been nothing more than a retirement community for retired officers and have never....repeat...never been allowed to do actual police work. I doubt you will find more than one or two current deputies who are able to work and complete an accident report. Eventhough KRS states that the Sheriff is responsible for the investgation of all accidents within the county. Hmmmmmmmmmm.......makes ANYBODY running against this guy look really GOOD.

Ok, I have to ask, why am I not the Right guy? And hey "Your Wrong" We are a state accredited police agency with the highest level of college graduates in the state, not just the county. Between my 15 officers we have 256 years of combined experience, 15 associate degrees, 9 bachelor's degrees, 1 master's degree, and 1 law degree. If this sounds like a joke, match it anywhere here or elsewhere. Its one thing to throw a stone, but itís another to back it up with fact. My name is on my comments for a reason, whatís yours?

Ha!.... I doubt it, my men would not hide what they think from me. Furthermore, you still have not said a thing. You like this and that, this is a time for serious people with at least a plan of action, not just a "I like him or her." If you know something I need to be doing, put a suggestion on my desk. I'll do my best to fix it. But then again, if you did really work for me, you would already know this.

Why are you not the right man for the job you asked? You have spent almost your entire career in the City of Wilder. A city that relied on a Steel Mill, a bunch of bars and a speed trap to fuel the local government. All of those have disappeared and have been replace with a handful of businesses, and some condos. You have seen less crime in your entire career than most officers see in a year, not because it's safe, but because it's small,. This lack of knowledge is entirely evident when one drives by the unenforced strip joint you have in your business portfolio. Seriously Chief, do you think you really posses the knowledge and skills required to take on the task merging these departments. Are you going to stack your new agency with part time people let go from other agencies as you have in Wilder. You don't even have the decency to employ them full time. Had you not noticed, part time officers were phased out long ago by insurance companies and the legislature because they were not wise nor safe. Don't accredit this to cost savings; you recently were listed atop the charts on police spending in Greater Cincinnati. I wish I could find it, but in short, it would have been cheaper for your city to pay criminals not to break the law. Is this how you plan on running your new merged Department? With no knowledge of the real world finances or crime, what have you really done in your career besides draw a paycheck? Feel free to list some accomplishments. One would think that a resume such as yours would have plenty. So Mr. Rouse, in closing I say that the only thing you posses that would make you a Sheriff are friends in the Republican Party. Nothing in your campaign is based on experience. Again, you asked for it.

Setting the record straight: My comments were in no way meant to validate the complaints made against county police administrators. For the record, I find Chief Keith Hill to be one of the most qualified and competent administrators anywhere. However, I feel that consolidation is where we should be headed, thatís all.

Chief Rouse: First of all, I only spent a part of my career in Wilder. I started in 1984 with the Hamilton County Sheriff's office then went to Newport Police, then Wilder. Furthermore, I was a firefighter, corrections officer, and even a maintenance worker. I am also a college graduate with honors and police certified in three states. But forget all that and 26 years of experience, I just want to see positive change. If I donít do something, who will...you. Also, I have friends in both parties, which I would happy to give you any of their names. Do me a favor, use your own handle, someone might think you are I, just an unqualified hick chief from Wilder. And you donít want that, do you?
