Alexander's attorney represented gambling figure Demetre “Jimmy the Greek” Theodossis, who had almost $2 million in cash hidden in his house when the FBI raided him in 2006. Since he could possibly be a witness against his client that sounds like a sure conflict of interest.

I don't know where he lives now, but when I lived in Haywood County some time ago Tom Alexander's house was a block away from mine so I can say for sure he didn't live extravagantly.

Wonder if they will check on Ron Moore's lifestyle and bank accounts? How about Bob Christy's, also?
I don't think they are finished with charging people in this case.

Sean will excuse himself after he drains Alexander dry before the trial. Same thing Bob Long did with Medford. He dropped Medford in favor of $ Jackie Sheppard just before the trial started. Maybe Devere will chime in with an opinion.

He may have been smart and stashed his cash in Liechtenstein or Grand Cayman.

Anyway, he's presumed innocent, except in these forums, where everybody likes to swing a hangman's noose.

MMMMMmmmmm. <sniff, sniff> Anybody smell an odor of mendacity swirling like skunk fumes from the property room?

BTW, Devilrex made out like a bandit with Demmie Theodossis. He never did any time and all he had to give up was the money they found in his walls and ceilings. Don't you reckon Demmie stashed some money they DIDN'T find?

Silence speaks volumes. When he was initially confronted about the allegations Tom said very little at all, but what he didn't say was "I didn't do it", just before he said he'd have to talk to his lawyer before saying anything else. What would an innocent man have to lose by saying he didn't do it? If it were me I'd be yelling it from the mountain tops.

Y A W N. He has the right to be silent. He has no burden to prove anything.

I've known sheriff Alexander all of my life. He may have a vacation home, but so does a nurse I work with, that doesn't mean anything, except that he has worked hard all of his life to get what he has. He doesn't live extravagantly, and does follow the law! I stand firm behind my sheriff and friend Tom Alexander, and it is my prayer tonight that he will be left alone and that the truth will come out that he is an honest person trying to live an honest life and help his community.

Oh, we're sure he's a nice guy, but do you think he'd turn down $3300/month under the table if it were presented? If he didnt take the money then why didnt he report the bribery attempt at the time?

Keep on yawning. Just make sure you're awake for the trial.

I never occurred to me that Bobby was messed up in all that he was but I wasn't surprised when I found out he was. And I never would have thought it of Tom in a million years until he starts referring the press to his attorney and not denying the allegations. That just smells fishy and if it were Tom looking at someone else behaving in that same manner he would think it smells fishy too. At the very least I would have expected Tom to say "I didn't do it. I'm cooperating with the feds." and then throw in the part about seeing his lawyer for anything more.

I'll certainly not swear he's guilty of anything unless/until a jury hands down that verdict (if it even goes to trial), but for those of you that think he doesn't live an "extravagant" lifestyle, it's my understanding he owns a sizable amount of real-estate in different locations and he owns & operates a race car team (or he did). I don't know if that all adds up to living beyond the means of his job as Sheriff (he may have come by all of it honestly), but there's more to him than just his house and a tractor.

eastforkbapguy there are quite a few of us up here in the East Fork Community of Haywood County that wonder why we dont have much "help" or protection from our sheriff. It is easy to win when you run uncontested.

When you have (at best) 5 patrol officers covering 550 square miles at any given time you're not going to see a huge presence that far out from your most densely populated areas. I don't know how much the population of Haywood County (outside of the towns) has grown over the last 10 years, but I understand that the call volume has increased appreciably over that period of time. The amount of personnel they have to respond to them has not. I'm sure, however, that any time anyone in East Fork calls for help from the Sheriff's Office that they get it.

Well you must not live in the East Fork Community. And just because someone shows up and takes a report doesnt mean anything of substance is being done.
