Estimate on youths detained on minor offenses stirs debate
“I would think after a while it would get so tiresome you just almost have a tendency to [say ] 'just let me throw the book at all of them,' and that is not the way to cure the problem”
A state official estimated Wednesday that 20 percent of the first-time juvenile misdemeanor offenders are committed to the Division of Youth Services for such things as sassing a school bus driver. via Herald-Leader

We let men and women out of jail for robbery and drugs because you say there is no room in the jails but you are ready to put a teen age person in jail for sassing a bus driver. what is wrong with that picture? your school systems no longer care about the children . your judges no longer care. you just say put them away. get your robbers off the street, your drug dealers off the street. not put your children away.
