Massive Wildfire Burns Paradise
Calvin Thompson lost his home and everything in it in Tuesday's massive wildfire in Wise County. The Paradise fire claimed about 28 structures, including some homes, Wise County Judge Bill McElhaney said. No serious injuries were reported, city officials said.
"It's all gone," Mr. Thompson said as he surveyed damage. "You can't even tell what the refrigerator was."
Fire ate away at homes and buildings on several hundred acres in this Wise County town as volunteer firefighters tried to tame the flames. Smoke filled the air while worried residents wondered where the wild winds would go next and whether their homes would burn to the ground.

Why not have Controled Burns at troubled sites in the state where there would be a threat of danger
when the winds would be a problem.

That works in forest fire situations, but in this case, it was everywhere...even people's front lawns.
