Low ratings test resolve of schools

FORT WORTH -- Dunbar High School students don't mince words when they explain their 'academically unacceptable' rating.
'No one was serious,' said Brooklyn Pope, an 18-year-old senior known more for triumphs on the basketball court than struggles with science. 'I wasn't serious.'
Dunbar earned an 'academically unacceptable' because of low passing rates on the 2007 Texas Assessment of Knowledge and Skills. It was among 15 Fort Worth campuses that earned a low rating, including I.M. Terrell Elementary, which tumbled from 'exemplary,' and Polytechnic, Eastern Hills, South Hills and Diamond Hill-Jarvis high schools. Read more

The taks tests are a bunch of bull. The schools spend more time trying to prepare students for these tests than actually teaching them. They need to go back to teaching the old fashion way.
