Someone asked earlier, "What type of parent let's their kid go out dressed like that?" That's probably the problem...there are NO parents involved.

I don't think either one of those dresses should have been worn by at 17 or 18 year attending a prom. Where are the parents, no wonder young girls are becoming pregnant, they are inviting the young man to take advantage or stating I am here to give it up.

I don't think the dress was appropriate. However, at my high school, girls were allowed to wear things to prom that we couldn't wear to school, such as, strapless dresses and there was no defined dress code specifically for prom. I'm a little confused about why they didn't let her in after she offered to cover up? And then they wouldn't even give her back her money? I don't agree with that. If the punishment was removal from the prom and forfeiture of costs for violating the dress code that should have been determined before the prom. Students should have known exactly what was acceptable and what wasn't and what the punishment would be for violation.
Please..... are you really that iqnorant that dressing like a lady in evening attire and NOT like a streetwalker has to be spelled out for you?

I viewed the story on CNN & i can not believe for one that she "thought" her "so-called" dress was prom material...second: how was she allowed to leave the house looking as such...third: if she was causing a disturbance she was rightfully arrested; but with that being said with her attitude & "thought" that nothing was wrong with her dress she would also need some counseling...Personally issues like this only manifest the stereotypes that are so NOT justified...Basically it looked like all she had on was a twin sheet wrapped around her frail body...PLEASE note my feedback as not to disrespect the young lady; but with her attitude & presentation I am sure it would not even bother her on the feedback from the news report

I think the dress was inappropriate to wear to a school function period .. that is the problem .. why do u need written guidelines or dress codes to say this is ok and this is not ... what happened to sound judgement .. Yes Proms should be where u dress up and have fun but her dress to me was way over the top .. where is she gonna wear that sling shot of a dress again? My son is going to the prom on Friday and that would not be something I want on his arm When u go for shock value .. u have to take everything that comes along with it .. good and bad

They say that your kids are a reflection on you as a parent, any father or mother who would allow there child to wear a dress that revealing do not
care about how others see their child.

What this young lady did was in poor taste and well beyond the scope of what was appropriate for a prom. But come on; we are talking about a 17 year old who made a stupid decision and was punished for causing a disturbance; hardly high crime. Everyone wants to degrade her and call her names, when everyone in this blog has done something just as if not more stupid; just no news coverage for yours. Every time a child steps out of line we all shout "where are the parent's, there's no parental involvement, they should be ashamed", well correct me if I am wrong, but if every parent were held accontable for every stupid mistake that their children made then they would never get anything done. Where were your parents the night you got drunk underage for the first time, or the time you tried pot or lost your virginity or shoplifted because your friends thought it was cool???Everyone of us is guilty of bad judgment when we were young and this girl is no exception and her parents are no more to blame than yours were when the cops brought you home at 2 in the morning when you were supposed to be at Jimmy's house. Lighten up people it's just a stupid dress.

Yes the dress was a bit revealing, but did she have to be arrested. I think that some officials have to much to say. If it was on school property ok, but it was not and that she count for something. That was a direct violation of her freedom of speech. Oh yea, the dress was inappropriate for the prom, but it was ok for her to go to jail in, yea right. Think about it people. By the way, they took away a lasting memory for that young lady and they should at least refund her money.

Parents should pay for the costs of haveing to deal with this situation and be forced to chaparone the next dance! This senior had absolutely no shame and was proud to not be wearing panties! I am sure we won't be surprised to see the parents are troubled also.

-=We don't know why she wore the dress.=-

All I see is the Media saying she was hand cuffed ?
THAT FAR OVER A DRESS?

When all that schools principal or someone from the staff could of made this a private issue and to call the parents and should of had this handled privately.

The principal and that whole staff of that school has openned himself to one big hornets nest for doing this to a young studuent at a highschool on a prom night?

Since when did the police start arresting for fashion?

Should we have police arrest the women in strip joints and the girls that dress slutty in clubs and bars?

She had clothes on.. Maybe a little too revealing of somewhat, but to slap a police record on a young student innocent girl OVER A SIMPLE SISTUATION THAT ANYONE COULD OF DONE BETTER!!!!!

I could understand and agree/ or / disagree with this vice versa.

That girl will have one hell of a lawsuit for being displayed that way if proven the fact she
was not informed about the dress code policy of the school, and was not informed about the dress code for the prom.

All the media is doing is getting people to bicker with such a hateful tone of words.

Sounds like jealousy..

At least she wasn't fat and maybe she admires Bounce'...
Maybe she made that dress to have something unique and different from all the girls who had the same dress cloning each other.
Or maybe she lives on low income and had a little money and that was the prom dress she could afford?

The poor girl had flip flops!!!

Dear Lord of our hearts may that child be protected from this evil media mockery have sympathy and not put her down she already had a police record slapped on her innocent life over clothes?

...This is like what the evil step sisters did to Cinderella but in a different way!

Hmmm.. I agree ! Media Mockery for ignorant masses.
School isn't forever and parents you know that ,and she very well may dress right.
This was only for a prom night..

Thank god some girl made history and did something no other girl could even come up to wear that to a prom I would hate to be like the rest with dyed blonde streaks in the hair and fake boobs and trying to get married at 18 .. I think all the girls that showed up to the prom with a date became jealous of what she had on ... What happened moon and stars promised by the pretty faced ugly boys ,and the girls got shot down to rebound when they saw the Cinderella with a different style walk in? Shame on you parents.
Didn't you know that High School Proms are when your so called daughters lose their virginities? Lets talk about that and blame the parents. LOL LMAO ROFLMAO!!!!!!!!!!

the girl was on the local station this morning. Her dress was indeed inappropriate, and my child wouldn't have left home dressed that way. BUT she doesn't live with her mom, and her guardian allowed her to leave the house that way. She had the dress made, and she claims that is not the original design and she was upset to receive it that way. However, at that point she no longer had a dress to wear to prom. Her issue is not that she was turned away from the prom, but that she was not refunded her money. So she received a dress that was not her design, and she is not being refunded her prom money, now she is at risk of missing out on certain Sr activities. So the situation continues to worsen for the girl. Let this be a lesson to all, have your dress made weeks before you need it!

She is a hoe just like her momma. Hopefully in a few years she will die of a crack overdose and we won't hear from her again.

My daughter attended the same prom. Students received a dress code handout months prior to the dance. I couldn't understand at the time why a dres code was necessary. Now I know. It was even discussed in homeroom periods. The student in question created a big disturbanc, screaming and cursing. She had no bra or panties on and only had a small shawl to "cover up" with. Too bad the news can't give all the facts.

Oh, and she was not actually arrested. She was escorted outside, because she was making such a scene with her behavior. She absolutely refused to leave on her own. Her behavior left a bad memory for every one else who behaved themselves and followed the dress code.
