Lancaster has second suicide by train in less than 3 months.

A 51-year-old Lancaster woman was killed at about 12:45 a.m. Thursday when she was struck by an eastbound CSX freight train while sitting on the train tracks off Town Line Road, Lancaster police said. Detectives late Thursday identified the woman as Wendy Reardon, of Town Line Road. Police are investigating the circumstances that led the woman onto the train tracks, but they said it appears it was an intentional act.

How gruesome is that to leave your family and loved ones to feel that life was so horrible for you to take that way out.

The family and loved ones should have intervened.....often the signs are painfully obvious (no pun intended).

[To="Georgia from Lancaster"] Have you walked in this womans' shoes? You never really knew what was going on, no one did. Until you walk a mile in their shoes, you can't pass judgement.

I've discovered this article after reading that her husband, John Reardon, committed suicide in jail, on April 30, 2008, after being sentenced to one year in prison. He was arrested on charges back in October. I suppose the issues behind his arrest (on weapons, drug and Family Court-related charges) led to this woman's despair and suicide.

How sad to put railroad employees in the position of not being able to prevent such a death while they witness it and its aftermath.
Not a pretty site

And think of the firefighters and the police that have to go to the site to clean the mess up, its not a pretty site. The railroad in the meantime is losing money because of the trains are all being backed up. So it is a no-win no-win senerio for everyone.

Abby, Do you remember where you read about her husband? I would like to read that article as well.
