Being a sportsman all my life, from a father and grandfather of the same background, guns and safety are part of my life, though small, still a part. I want to get my concealed carry, but the truth is, as a law abiding citizen, I still worry that those that are registered are the ones they are compiling records on and they will be the first the BATF goes for, regardless of what the law presently says. Anyone have simular concerns?

Your response was odd. The fact that even these simple lines of text can be stored forever through webbots, ADVISE, DHS, etc, and knowing the records net that gets tightened ever more with firearms, well, I think paranoid might be a better state of mind as opposed to ignorant, in my humble opinion of course. |

The BATF (Brooklyn AIDS Task Force) doesn't compile records on gun owners or people with concealed carry permits. Nor does the BATF (Brooklyn AIDS Task Force) go after gun owners. With one phone call or visit, we can connect you with a wide array of programs and services to address your physical, psychological or spiritual needs. |

You want to get you permit to carry a concealed weapon... why? You said guns and safety are a SMALL part of your sportsmanship.. If you're registered they will compile a record on.. WBIR did it not to long ago. They can't compile on non-registered because there is no way to compile that info. Beside I remember reading that registered gun owners have some type of privacy issue/act now...??? Someone else might recall.... But I don't understand why you even want the concealed carry..?? and you're welcome to it.. i was just wondering what your motive is? |

OK, Concentrate. WHY, becauase I can, because I may, though small, have the opportunity to help someone. I said, sportsmanship, target shooting, game hunting etc are a part of my life, safety and responsibility a major issue as I have children (That portion being a big part of the picture) but the part of guns being part of my life meant I am a gun owner, not a business. I used to have a concealed permit years ago, but decided not to renew. Now I am wondering if it is not prudent to get it again with the liberal democrats usually aggressive at curtailing guns, ownership, etc.

1 It all started during the Clinton Administration in the wake of Waco and the Oklahoma City bombing and was stimulated by the anti NAFTA protests in Seattle, Washington. For some strange reason the Democrats just have to know everything everybody is doing. They are some of the biggest busybodies. And before anybody starts to jump all over me about Bush and the Patriot Act. The patriot Act is really week compared to what the Democrats have been doing ever since the Carter years and again during the Clinton Administration when they controlled both the White House and the Congress. Before Clinton and the Democrats every Veteran was able to use the VA who had a Service-Connected Disability. Now every Veteran may use the DVA Medical Centers and every Veteran must now provide proof of private insurance so the DVA can charge their private insurance for the treatment and care of their Service-Connected Disabilities and Conditions. It is none of their need to know what private insurance a Veteran may or may not have. Every time they ask me I simply tell them that I am Service-Connected and that is all they are in the need to know. If you want to own a gun and carry it that is your private business and nobody else especially the government is in the need to know if you are carrying or not OR if a person even owns a weapon, what kind it is and/or how many they own. A weapon like a car, house and a person's clothing is their own personal property. The Constitution denies the government the ability to go around sticking its nose into a person's personal business. We need more people standing up for themselves and telling the government to go get bent or better yet to take their invasive laws and stick them in their right ear with their left index finger. |
You arent paranoid. Yes they are lists. And the NRAS is crap - they help pass gun control measures. In this system, the opposition to the loss of rights is run by the same people who run the push to legislate loss of rights. They set-up, fund, and control their own opposition, and that goes for ANY organization of consequence on any issue you can name. From cancer to the environment and whatever else. Thats why nothing ever gets fixed. I wouldnt get put on that list, unless I was in the past 4 yrs a frequent 'retail' gun buyer who is on a list anyway. |

1 I normally avoid any part of town where I would need a gun. But, if the day comes when I have a job in one of those areas of town, I will definitely get a concealed carry permit. My grandfather started carrying a gun without a concealed carry permit after some kids tried to run him off the road. My cousin used to keep a baseball bat in her car. I might start doing that. |

1 This RIGHT has nothing to do with hunting or curtailing crime or criminal activity. There are individuals in the government and outside of the government who are actively seeking to deny or take away all of our Constitutional Rights. These individuals want to remove our weapons from us so they will be able to turn this country into another police state where only the government is legally able to use weapons. Weapons that are used against American Citizens who refuse to go along with their program. Clinton demonstrated this at Waco, Ruby Ridge and at Seattle, Washington. Whenever any government agent or agency turns their weapons against innocent Americans and can get away with it like Clinton did then YES we are all in very DEEP trouble. We have these RIGHTS to protect us against the Government and those individuals who seek to turn this into another Police State. |

Well,,, the post above proves there is intelligent life here on earth. Dem. or Rep., it does not matter, the Fed has abused it's rights and 90% of the public don't even know it. Vet myself, and don't want part of any government that thinks it, and not the public should have the right to bear arms. Every government in the past that has elected to take or outlaw the citizens rights to do so have fallen. Period. |

And you my friend are living in a dream world... We live in a society that does not regard my rights, yours, or our lives. We drive daily amongst people that will shot you, beat you, for looking at them. We have punks that will stab you if you "Diss" them!!! This is not your grandfathers country anymore, Andy of Mayberry is gone, Leave it to Beaver is now a world that looses it innocense at age 8, and yes,,, now I do lock my doors, keep numerous items at hand in all areas I go and live, and it is very common, and it is very prudent. Much like taking a bottle of water when going into parched country, just precuautionary smart thinking in a changed society. |

1 My point is that my pistol will take the "punks" out from a distance with piercing accuracy. You can have the ball bat. I prefer a deadlier method of protection. Perhaps my stand is a little clearer now. Just curious. What the hello fuzzy did you think I meant?

Pardon the interruption but there is nothing like taking a knife to a gun fight or as you pointed out a baseball bat to a gun fight. I remember watching a movie once when one of the actors asked the question. Which would you rather be? The person on the ground unarmed or the guy with the gun? I prefer to be the guy with the bigger gun. At least if hit with a pea shooter I'll still get a shot off and blow a BIG friggin hole in my attacker. |
