Marlene , looking for a standing Rib Roast, here is my recipe , the one I make for my family at Christmas time, I get a 10 pounder bone in, they I bring it out of the refridge for at least 4 hours to almost room temperature, this is where people mess up, you have to do that in order to get maximu, flavor, the I inject garlice oil, about November I get good EVO and dice up garlic and put that in a jar , and I put it in my cellar and must be DARK, then I get the injector and put oil in different places in the roast and DONT overpower it too much maybe 3 or 4 places, then I take the same garlic oil and rub the roast with it, and place Rosemary, Thyme, and ground up garlic and oinions and place that on the roast , all over bone included, then I crank up the oven to 500 place the roast in for about 20 minutes at that high temp, then reduce to 300 till the internal temp reaches 120 then bring it out , let it rest for about 15 minutes then carve away for the best prime rib you will ever eat in your life....SAVE the drippings add a little beef broth to it and you got AU JUS to knock your socks off

What is the sodium content?
|
|
I googled baked crab dip and came up with all kinds of recipes. Don't know what other ingredients besides crab were in the one that Ms. Matrich liked, though. "Radical moderate," I didn't see where "Triple K" added any salt to the roast. So unless there is salt in the garlic oil, sounds like the only sodium would be whatever is "naturally" in the meat. I cook like that, too, I use a lot of herbs and spices rather than loading up my meals with salt. Preparing a roast like "Triple K" does, all those yummy herbs and onions, trust me, you'll never miss the salt!

HIGH but who cares its Christmas Prime Rib..... You see Radical one, you need to invent a scheme like my "Backyard Barbeques and great oldies", now for you Sunday morning God Squad, it would be "Heavenly Hosts and heavenly food"....

I do put some kosher salt on but not much at all, some people dont like salt, but like you said you dont need with all the other herbs, and it is soooooo good, I guess I will have to make on July 25th, Christmas in July!!!! |

Oh, ok, I didn't see the kosher salt mentioned (unless I missed it, which is likely). Sounds like a really good recipe - do you make your own garlic oil, buy it, or? |

I have to eat fairly healthy to maintain low blood pressure and prevent any further tias or worse yet, a real stroke. So, sadly I will not be eating this anytime soon. On Sunday mornings I have a bad habit of buying donuts from the crazy lady at the 7-11. |

Yes I do make my own garlic oil, I go down to farmers market on a saturday night and buy a case of garlic sometimes real cheap, then I smash it get the skins off and cut them up , dice them whatever you want to do, then I heat them in a skillit just to the point before carmalization sets in then I spoon it into a real good Olive Oil (Centro) 14 bucks a bottle I may add, usually I have a few small mason jars, fill up half way with oil and the rest with the garlic, and add just a bit of kosher salt, not much, then store them in a cool DARK place or like I do in my old root cellar, let it stand a month and oh boy it is good, I ususally make about 10 jars or so , so I have it throughout the summer.. You dont need to get that expensive of an olive oil either, some people use a plain veggie oil, but I like EVO.. you can also use the garlic in mashed potatoes, as a rub for london broil, prime rib, top round or pork shoulders or butts as well. |

Radical one, 7-11 doughnuts are really good for you, it will keep your sugar level up so you go diabetic and top of the rest of your problems, you eat a good roast like the above stay away from the carbs you will not have a problem, trust me, see the problem is you need to listen to the Backyard Barbeque and great oldies GEHRU and you will live a long time.. then you can go to Musicfest and eat all the junk there and not get sick
