Ya know, when I first read the article, I was quite surprised at the decision. Then I looked into my own "skeletons in the closet"...

i hear this quote alot, and i just have to reply to it. I understand where this concept comes from, but must say, and our society is based on being a "productive" member of it. When you take on a roll of teaching our children, and supposed to be guiding them down a path fo respect, good manners, education and morals the public expects; his position was to incurr of all of these aspects and more. He had a choice. To do drugs, or not to. He chose to, therefore the addiction may become present, but not excusable.
He chose a position where being judged is imperative, and his position paid for by parents/tax payers. Therefore, judgment should not be looked down upon. Without judgment, people like this would hold no moral standards if this is how they act with morals being scrutinized. So I disagree, people have every right to judge someone who places themself in a position such as this, then behaves the way he did. addictions or not

yes. yes. yes. He is in a position to have good morals and good behavior and show the students at the school he represents as an employee and an adult in society that he knows right from wrong. if this is who are youth looks up to for advice, education, moral standards and guidance, we are all in big big trouble. morals and moralic behavior need to be a constant

Totally unbelievable. Here was a fine opportunity to teach these young kids the adverse effects of drugs and drug dealing. Now we teach them their going to get a slap on the hand at best. Someone has made a very bad decision with this parole and should fulfill the rest of Acerra's sentence with him.
John Acerra is an addict... addicts will do things they never thought could ever be possible. I am not excusing his behavior, however I do believe that he has taken responsibility and has owned up to what he's done. I believe he will have much to offer in the way of helping other addicts in the future. I know he will be much more useful on the outside than inside the prison walls.

Unfortunately , I have a family member who is an addict and until I found myself dealing this "drug situation", I was a very rigid, black and white person.... I used to think that these people deserved to be locked up forever when instead, they really need treatment.

I am so glad John Acerra will be released and i hope he does well. Good Luck to him and his family.

The fact this guy was entertaining himself, IN his office, during business hours indicates an illness of some sort.

He's well educated yet makes a bad choice like this.

We punish the bad behavior, preserve the man (because it is the actions we disapprove of, not the man) and rehabilitate the man.

Sure, he's done as a principal. But, I'm sure there's other places he can teach and make a difference in other's lives.
