Maybe he was upset he was convicted of a murder in 1987 that did not happen until 1991. Nice job Times!

This was NOT the first. I remember living in Albion and getting the same knock on my door that the neighborhood got last night. I don't remember the exact date, 1996 maybe, but the prisoner has escaped while working outside

He was convicted in Erie County in 1987 of the 1991 beating death of Barney Fenton, 40, of Ashtabula County, Ohio.

Someone needs to investigate SCI-Albion. Management there is a joke. The prison is not staffed appropriately. Officer posts are routinely collapsed (which management says they dont collapse post, instead they reasign officers to other areas) which is a total lie. The inmates have too much freedom inside the facility as you will see how inmate kysor escaped. The management there will pin it on lower ranking staff. Superintendent Brooks and her cronies (Major on up) need to be fired. I have never seen so many incompetent Managers that cant make a decision when other peoples lives depend on it. Watch and see they will point fingers at everyone else but themselves. I am a firm believer by the rule "lead by example" and with the leaders at SCI-Albion the whole entire prison runs like crap. Officers misconduct reports are routinely not excepted because management states "give the inmate another chance" or "the restricted housing unit is too full" or "he is my snitch". Officers are so fed up with this kind of leadership that they dont write the misconducts anymore. Next thing you know the inmates are getting away with everything. This all stems from MANAGMENT's way of pleasing the inmates because they are scared if the officers really did their job the inmates might become mad.

From what I've heard about the alert system they have at the prison, the people that run this facility are more concerned about looking "bad" than the safety of the people that live in the area

How can you NOT look into every recepticle leaving the prison and don't these "working" inmates have a CO that's a supervisor that also takes a head count at the end of a shift. Heads will roll...

I could agree with alot of what you say, EXCEPT, I don't think that the Superintendent or Major or any other member of "Management" are the ones that should have searched the vehicle before it left the inside. Sounds like your trying to deflect the blame onto someone else rather than the person who should have searched the vehicle. Could you be a member/officer of the CO's Union trying to protect your member?????

I done 10 years in the prison and have never seen it as corrupt as when superintendent brooks took over! I am a black man and i still say she gets away with murder because she is the only black woman in a position of power in the department of corrections. They would rater put up with her b/s than fire her and replace her with someone more competent. Look what she did at her last prison!!! How much can the taxpayers take?

I agree with you. How can anyone commit crimes, be found guilty have the state pay almost 3 six figure incomes and still be employed. It doesn't make any sense to me.

I think that the biggest thing that upsets me is that the pig farmer had nothing to do with it at all. The driver of the doc truck should have followed procedure as far as checking the load before he left the compound. Then he disappears so that the farmer couldn't alert him about the empty barrel. If he was available they might have been able earlier to detect that he was gone and catch him but the driver didn't do what he was supposed to so it took until 4:30pm to realize he was gone. He was probably already out of the state by then. The farmer is being used as a scape goat and in my opinion it is all about bueracracy, and capitalism. He has no unions to back him up and no money to find an attorney to sue them. They have their crooked attorney's that will try and get away with this injustice so he doesn't have a chance. In order to protect themselves they cut the livlihood of an innocent man. Justice huh?

By the way he commited the murder in 1981 and i don't think he was caught until 82 and then he was tried and convicted in 87-88.

another thing that i think is stupid is that the news carries too much detail. I hope they don't think for one minute that this guy is not keeping tabs on what is going on with the search for him. why go through the trouble of escaping if you aren't going to be cautious and keep up on the progress of your case. He is way too smart ;to go to minnesota or indiana especially now that he knows they will be looking for him there.

I agree with Bob in that "Anonymous" must be an officer/member of the CO union. Some of the lower ranking personnel should take responsibility for the escape of kysor, as if they had been doing their job in this instance he would not have been able to leave the institutuiton so easily. i think we tend to forget that little piece of information.. Regardless what you say about management, lower ranking staff are to blame as well.... And what does it matter how much money she makes, let's look at some of the lower ranking staff and see what kind of money they make, diedre. Oh and for the other "Anonymous" she is not the only black woman in power in the DOC.

let me tell you how this will all play out.. sure your "management will probably either lose their jobs or be demoted.. but.. the FEW people who clearly DID NOT do their will jobs will lose their jobs too BUT will probably have their jobs reinstated with BACK PAY.. isnt that a great way for your tax dollars?? so Albion residents i hope you will sleep better knowing that administration will be gone BUT the same FEW people who didnt do their jobs will be protecting your community..

your not using your name either are you? I wish everyone would see the bigger picture here and understand that a murder is loose because procedures slipped through the cracks and he escaped. A pig farmer gets fired for no reason and a superintendant that has been charged with crimes against inmates and found guilty and the state has had to pay almost 3 six figure incomes in settlements and she keeps her job. wow. get a grip and you get the facts straight please. and by the way i am using my real name.
