It's a shame that parents have to be so diligent with regard to ANYONE who has close contact with their child -- from teachers to Scout leaders to church members to coaches to friends and neighbors. It seems to me that part of the problem is that we are a sex-obsessed society -- and deviant sexual behavior isn't so disapproved of anymore. Casual sex has been mainstreamed -- everyone does it. Younger and younger children are featured as sexual objects -- look at the 14-year-old models who grace magazine covers, look at Jon Benet Ramsey. Porn isn't considered a taboo anymore -- everyone watches it. Even our movies and prime-time TV shows focus on "sexy," from scantily-clad women to on-screen lovemaking to nudity to sexual violence. You can't pick up a magazine or turn on the TV without being bombarded by sexual teasing. The bottom line is, SEX SELLS in this country -- and it's no wonder more and more men and women are looking for something just a little more titillating, including attraction to and seduction of children.
Our boundaries on acceptable sexual behavior have been pushed so far back, it's no wonder that our sex-saturated society produces situations like these. You can't have a society that condones playing with fire, and then complain when the house burns down.

WoW..and all this outrage comes from the same person who think it's proper to print gore and grizzly details in the newspaper? Hmmmmm

I'm not at all "outraged." I made an observation on why I think society has become more sex-obsessed. Sexual abuse of children is sort of a far cry from using a simple, two-word phrase -- "fragmented remains" -- in a newspaper story, lol.(You really stretch, MCR ... a biiiiiig stretch!) I don't consider "fragmented remains" to be "gore" OR "grizzly." I could see YOUR "outrage" if they'd described body parts and bone and blood ... they did NOT. They used a very sanitized phrase to indicate why the area was closed off for so long. You must be about 8 years old ... you don't seem at all to be an adult.

This type of answer may work with Citi but not with me.
After reading many of your posts, I have seen you manipulate a lot of facts to suit your purpose. Mostly just for the sake of posting. Obviously you see no parallel here. You really need to reexamine your priorities, so this will be the last time I say this. I will not argue with stupid. It serves no end. Nuff Said.

I see no parallel? Actually, you're absoutely right. I don't. I don't see the parallel between using a sanitized phrase to describe an accident and sexual abuse of children. What's the connection there, because I don't see it???
You and Citi should go off and find a quiet place to stroke each other's egos --because your opinions are about as much-loved as hers are. You see how warmly she's embraced on these threads, of course, and you mostly just parrot her.
"Citi and her little dog, MCR."
