Another hard lesson learned. You never pay a contractor until the job is finished and the code inspections are finalized. If a contractor is on a shoestring and plans to live off your money, find another contractor. Honest contractors should have a credit line at a bank. Many, many people over in Huntsville signed their insurance checks over to the slicks at American Shingle after the downtown tornado and a hail storm. Now there is no roofs and no more American Shingle. The folks cannot go back to the insurance companies again, they did their jobs. It's sad but there will always be someone lurking around a disaster to rip people off. It's also sad that the current laws let these low life crooks bankrupt and pop right back up under a new name with a clean slate.
