How does a landlord know he is renting to illegals? All it takes is a straw man to rent the apt and let anyone stay there. A business license is useless in this context, look at all the fly by night roofing/lawncare companies who could care less about a "business license".

Agree with Tim 100%, all illegal aliens should be deported. Kobach is needed in plenty of places besides Athens and Albertville. Canceling the license of anyone hiring illegals (you can use e-verify to screen potential workers) and fines for renting to illegals is certainly a good place to start.

It's time to do something about all these foreigners taking over alabama and it's jobs and buisnesses over! Legall or illegal they own every buisness here and have all the blue collar jobs. All the lower and middle class people are suffering because of them!

Go try to give your application or invoices to a Chicken processing plant...all you will see working in the offices is Mexican women. This guy isn't going to mean a thing and if Albertville wanted to get rid of the mexicans they could have 20 years ago but they wanted the extra tax revenues and YES..those mexicans do PAY PAYROLL TAXES.

The koreans are mostly to blame for hireing all the mexicans and putting whites and blacks out of work. Their is not a single conveinent store, hotel, subway, drycleaners, construction or anything around us that is not foreign owned and mexican workers!

Oh BTW: illegal immigrant labor isn't cheap. If you go to the local building center here in Los Angeles, you'll see hundreds of hopeful workers waiting to be picked up for day labor jobs. But e prepared to pay dearly. They expect 120.00 for an 8 hour day.(15. per hr) Also, your teenage kid won't be able to find a job. Those jobs have all been filled by low skilled illegal immigrants. Sorry son.

Gee Steve I don't know where you going to hand in an application or invoice but I know for a fact that all the women working at my wife's office are white. My wife happens to work for a major player in Albertville. The plant, she works at uses E-verify , unfortunately it only has a 54% success rate. If the you want something that works better than you need to have it, run by a private firm. Because by Federal law you can't ask the applicate if the work papers are real or belong to them. Federal government again, you want change get rid tof the jokers in DC.

I am a first generation American. My parents and grandparents EARNED their American citizenships! Does anyone care that the illegals are breaking FEDERAL law? Do you know or care what kind of diseases they bring into this country? They bring them in because their countries of origin do not have the same quality of care that the US does. Kick these people back to the borders!

E-verify needs work, it's true. But the only way to fix it is to use it, hone the data and work to improve it's accuracy. The reason E-Verify isn't identifying 45% of illegal workers is because they are using legitimate citizens social security numbers and the system can't detect identity theft..... but as we use it more, it will improve. Perhaps there will be a drivers license photo added to the SS info that E-verify can provide the employer. But again the American taxpayer is forced to pay... in dollars and in our civil liberties.

Sadly, it's a slippery slope when we lose more and more personal privacy while trying to stop illegal immigrants. It's truly sad that we have to give up our privacy to assist our government in enforcing it's federal laws. But it's the best they are able to do. The way our government has chosen to enforce immigration laws, it appears that the civil rights of illegal immigrants are more important to our leaders than those of it's citizens.

I would be proud and happy to show/scan my Biometric National ID when asked by anyone. Biometric cards will fix it all, Medicare, Medicaid, Social Security, etc. If you've every been to a Dr. they got all that information already. If you got nothing to hide, you got nothing to fear.

And who's fault is that? I can think of 3...we the American people, TIIC that we elected, and our horrible work ethic. Hmmm...notice how all 3 have a common denominator?

I think if everyone were identified by say their thumbprint, that would help a lot. I say everyone because illegals couldn't be singled out because it would violate their rights. An American citizen who is convicted of a felony loses the right to vote, but if you are illegal you can. That seems odd. E-verify using thumbprints would sure solve a lot of problems as far as identifying people. It would also help if they were using a stolen SS#. I know of one person who has been arrested several times, and used a different name each time. Being illegal, it is possible and happens alot. I don't think we should hate them or be mean to them, but I do think they should be held accountable for their actions. There is good and bad in all people, no matter what nationality or color.

The problem is no one in the U.S. is able to Enforce the law 100% on just about anything because overcrowding in population in general and the U.S. large deficit on natural resources. Mexico also needs to enforce their laws on immigration into the U.S. more strictly. Mexico, Guatemalan, etc. government is also to blame. We just need to be keeping up with China. Who cares about the hispanics. There's plenty of jobs out there. Most of us are just to lazy to work. Go to school get an education and stop making the U.S. look like a lot of dummies.

THERE'S A LACK OF DISCIPLINE IN THE U.S. AND SEEMS TO STEM FROM BAD PARENTING AND THE LACK OF DESIRE TO WANT TO BE EDUCATED. COME ON PEOPLE LETS GAIN BACK OUR MORALS AND DO SOMETHING THAT WILL HELP THE FUTURE. BE A LEADER!
