I hope the police find the animal who did this to the poor dog. This individual deserves to have the most severe sentence allowed by law. Animal abuse should be a felony in every state in the US, with penalties up to 20 years.

Dogs, cats, Conklin Dairy farms. When will the abuse of all living things stop? No more, no more.

Are we certain there was foul play? I mean dogs have a mind of their own. How do we know he didn't JUMP into that can for a snack and get stuck? Just saying.

I want to say that the Second Chance Shelter is a wonderful place for dogs to be given another chance. A chance of life that they deserve. This couple is doing a wonderful job because I found a dog that was thrown out to die on the side of the road and this shelter took her in. I want the city of Albertville and Marshall County to recognize the work these people are doing at this no-kill shelter. Every young to every old dog is important. I hope that people will donate dog food and items to them for support in their effort to save these animals in hopes of finding them homes.I will continue support you and spread the word and maybe donations will come in to help with the care these dogs need. Thank you for your kindness to these sweet animals that had already been given up on.

Kudos to the Albertville PD & the no-kill shelter!
It surely was a sick puppy who placed this precious little dog into that hell hole (no pun intended). Someday, that person may just find themself in a similar situation with much time to think back on the little helpless creature they dumped into a container where they KNEW it could never get out. Well, if you are reading these blogs, know that you WILL get caught eventually and Dodger will be resting comfortably in a new home with no guilt at all. Can you say that?

Marshall County needs a humane society. Second Chance doesn't always take dogs in. I'm constantly having animals thrown out here at my home and when I call them, I am always told that they are full and cannot accept anymore. I'm forced to pay a vet to euthanize the poor creatures.

Put it in the paper for adoption. Most ads for that are free.

I am glad she was found!! That poor pup. I am sure with this news coverage, she will get adopted quickly, though.

I hope the person that did this is also found.

Well, let's do the math and I'll try to make clear enough so you can understand it (without pictures).....dachshunds are short and cannot typically jump very high. Trashcans are normally pretty high. Also I highly doubt he was able to tie himself into a plastic bag as was reported earlier.

Log off now, your mommy is calling you....

I agree 100%. My husband and I live out in the country and are always getting animals thrown out on us. We take care of and feed our own animals. If you don't want them for life, don't get them! It gets expensive feeding other people's animals because they are no longer cute, fluffy little puppies.

I totally agree with those saying marshall county needs an humane society. we also have animals dropped on us on a regular basis and every time I call the animal control officer for the county he never!! returns my calls. my next door neighbor had a child bitten by another neighbors dog they called the police and the county animal control officer he never showed up or didn't even call to check on the child. even though the parents stayed at home and waited on him all day long. if he won't call or come when you need him what is he getting paid for? what a waste!

These fools that did this should be beat by the police and sent to a hard labor camp.

Same here, I too have called animal control to pick up some mangey sick dogs that were dropped off but it took me 3 weeks of constantly calling and nagging them to come. Then when they showed up, they accused me of feeding the animals and telling me that I own them if I did. If only there was something we all could do to get a humane society *sigh*

anyone who would do this to a defenseless animals needs to be eliminated from this planet and the sooner the better. I hope the psychopath is found.
Animal abuse and child abuse demeans the society that does not treat this as a capitol offense.
