Not entirely accurate reporting, Newsday. New York State does recognize gay marriages that are valid where performed. Several AG opinions state this, and the state law is pretty clear on the subject. You should print a correction.

Although NYS will recognize a same sex marriage, no one is to be compelled to issue a license or marry them. I personally feel that they should be allowed to marry and have the same rights as heterosexual married couples. They shouldn’t be denied the hassles of divorce, spousal and child support, and the added complications of taxation decisions. They just might be happier without the complications of marriage.

You don't hear about the goodness in our country, and there is plenty of it. Do you really think that you would pick up Newsday and read "Man helps fatherless family of 5 buy weekly groceries"? Will you read "Kind samaratin helps old lady after car accident"? No, this stuff doesn't make the news, and guess what? It happens every day. . . Go ahead, keep living in your "media shell" and believe everything you read..... and base everything you say on what you've read. This is the problem with uninformed and uneducated people. Instead of getting out and experiencing life for themselves, they base everything on hearsay and what others tell them.....

I don't care if you call it "marriage" or "civil union" or what. Just because you think that it is wrong or immoral does not mean that it is not perfectly right for someone else. 2 people living together in a committed relationship is an achievement, why should you give a crap what sex they are? They pay taxes, pay bills, and some are actually very good contributers to society.
