quote...."Police say Santos had three times the legal amount of alcohol in her system when she blew through a red light in Levittown, killing Urgo and seriously injuring her husband, John, 53, and her sister, Linda Chapman, 53, of Levittown."

and she had the nerve to plea "not guilty".
what the hell is the matter with these lawyers now-a-day,
how can you try to defend someone like that and say "not guilty".
no wonder why our legal system is falling apart

Not that I agree with it in any way at all, but her lawyer probably had her plead not guilty so he could try to get a plea bargain. Which, unfortunately she may get instead of the state trying the case and spending the money on it. If they try to plead, I hope the DA tells them to shove it and goes ahead with a trial anyway and puts the woman away for the max.

The repeat offenders need the book thrown at them. Defense lawyers are getting drunk driver killers off the hook and letting them back out on the roads to kill again and again.

The difference between pleading "not guilty" and guilty is the difference (for the lawyer) between driving a Chevy versus driving a BMW.

its amazing how well we are able to judge others but we fail to see our own flaws and the flaws of our family and friends.

Murderers with smoking guns plead not guilty. It's a formality.

Driving with THREE times the legal limit of blood alcohol AND killing someone is not a character flaw. It's a crime, and needs to be punished.
You should really face reality.

Why is it when people speak up and say that a person charged with a crime deserves the punishment they get (hopefully get), some people interpret that as judging? Is no one responsible for anything anymore? I have too many flaws to name, but killing an innocent person because of drunk driving is not one of them.

Someone can murder another person in front of a crowd of witnesses and still has the right under our laws to plead Not Guilty. It has nothing to do with the lawyers.
