State Prison Closing Costs Area A Regional Jail

During Governor Kaine's budget cut announcement Tuesday, he said a big chunk of the job cuts will come from closing down a Southside Virginia prison.

This s a very bad idea. Brunswick facility in Lawrenceville served to correct and hopefully rehabilitate sex offenders. Putting them in regualr facilities is not safe for this type of offender and they are not likely to get the type of care and rehab they need before being released.

It is also disgusting that specially trained and experienced staff living in that very rural area of Virginia will be out of work. Where are these people supposed to go for work in the current economic climate.

awe those poor guards and rapist va is the worst state aside from tx when it comes to over sentencing people but we're talking about rehab for rapist and child molesters they aren't supposed to get out at all when theres guys in wallens ridge serving 40 years for selling coke, but these people are being sent to sweet prisons where they get treated like they deserve protection and the guards are just as dirty as the people they are hired to keep an eye on.they are lazy and need to go get a real job like every other blue collar americans. those guards dont do nothing all day but sit up in the booths eating til its time to do a round. they are lazy and if you dont believe it go do a bid . they killed a guy in front of me in wallens ridge state prison he was having a siezure and they tazered him to death in the infirmary and didnt do a day in jail for killing the man . if they dont like you they dont have to feed you they can handcuff you take you out of camera view and beat the hell out of you , plant stuff in your cell, trump up institutional charges but those poor guards and rapist.
