Full story: TwinCities.com

You make noise next to me in the middle of my night and I don't care what our noise variance you think you have, were going to have trouble.

That does seem to be the track record with these types of charities. The residents value of their homes is exactly equal to the amount of their investment and sacrifice. But such jollifications allow for much self-congratulatory glad handing, and the always needed campaign photography.

I hope it's for the young girl and her family that had the horrific accident where she was ran over by a mini van and dragged for quite a ways. She has been through so much and in an article not too long ago, seems that the family could use a proper place for her to live and some other types of support. It was devastating what happened to her and also to the family.

I'd be less concerned about the noise and a lot more concerned about some monstrosity being built that totally didn't fit with the rest of the neighborhood. The noise is temporary. The misfit house is permanent.

And I'm sure none of it has anything to do with Chris Coleman's reelection campaign. He's doing it because he's a real "people person".

there was a construction project across the street from my house. they totally ignored the city ordinances. they lied to the county sheriff each time they stopped over to tell them to pack up and go home. it was miserable for my family. no sleep in a household with one person who is chronically ill and children who need to go to school is really tough. i guess the difference is that this is not a blatant attempt to bypass the rules and supposedly someone deserving will be helped. Maybe those who can't take the noise variance will be sent to a hotel for a few days.

You have the right to speak your mind. Too bad you apparently don't have a mind to speak of. Please just go away for a couple of decades.

"Mayor Chris Coleman's office is buzzing with anticipation over the project. Staffers have been publicizing a "pep rally" at 8 a.m. today at the Harriet Island Park Pavilion." Oh good God, break out the band! He'll probably use this as his main re-election reason -- he got St. Paul on TV! I'm sure Coleman is just giddy about it. When will Coleman AND City Council learn to do other things that have a lasting effect on St. Paul? It's time for a change and get these clowns out of City Hall.

Attorney General?? I remember the last time you ran people thought you were the Sharon Anderson, the talk show host. You got the nomination before they figured out you are a complete nut job. I think Skip Humphrey spent about $5 on his campaign against you! Keep up the good work, I need a good laugh!

As long as they don't come near Garrison Keillor's property. He would sue because his light and air might be blocked.

I don't know how they can accomplish this in St Paul in 7 days. Usually, it takes about 3 days for the building inspector to manage to show up each time you call. I figure they got abut 21 days into the project waiting for the inpsector alone!

The show is entertaining but not so practical. For the extremely expensive homes he builds, he could take an entire block and remodel, redo exterior and landscaping, fix old garages...bringing up the home values for the whole neighborhood.

This is another one of those perplexing stories in life where I don't know whether to laugh or cry. On the one hand, I'm delighted that a deserving family is getting a new house. On the other hand, I'm concerned that we are not being communitarian and considerate of our neighbors by allowing so much noise at all hours of the night! I hope this isn't by the new U of M stadium. Those people have suffered enough! I would like to explore getting a community committee together to explore this issue and if we really should change the plans.

Good thing this isn't near the Gopher stadium, or we'd have to read an article about how the hammering was too loud, disrupting the tranquil nature sounds of the inner-city.
