I remember in 1959 when they announced the loss of the last Civil War Veteran.

Soon we will announce the loss of the last of our WW I veterans, and I hope they announce it in all the land as they did for the Civil War.

It is a time of reflection for us all. It is a time for us to be thankful for what others have done for us in the past to preserve our Republic and our way of life.

A time to be thankful for those who helped keep much of the world free in the past.

Yes, and a time to recognize the evils we currently face and to resist the urge to look the other way.

Perhaps in another 100 years we will be rid of war and rid of those fanatics in the mid-east and elsewhere.
