My thoughts exactly...talking on the phone, and apparently/possibly unbuckled as well since she was ejected from the car...

Sympathy for the family, otherwise can't feel too bad about this one. Stay off the phone while you're driving!

Reminds me of a court case I saw on one of the Judge shows.

Female, age 16, just passed drivers test.

Borrows friend's car.

Starts Texting.

Hits fence.

Returns to original course.

Continues Texting.

Hits telephone pole.

Returns to original course.

Continues Texting.

Hits parked car.

Is sued by owner of car.

Enters plea of Not Guilty.

Denies responsibility.

Blames owner for allowing her to drive.

Judge stares unemotionally.

Finds driver guilty.

Very sad... Why is it we can pass a law restricting cell phone use for "youthful drivers" but do not include all drivers? I know it is a destraction, but it's a distraction for everyone. Less head checks before merging, less attention given to the task at hand "Driving!!!". Many other countries have passed laws restricting cell phones while driving. Why is so diffulcult in the US. It's not a God given "right" to drive, It's a privilege based-off passing a written test/driving test and following the laws of the land. Why not include the use of cell phone while driving?

It's very sad, I just hope it wasn't on speaker phone and she was also putting on make up while lighting a cigarette.

Because in the US we believe in weeding out the idiots of our society. People like this woman are the reason for those stupid warning labels you see on products in stores.

I do not believe it has to do with being "stupid".
Seat-belts were never used until a law required it. Many folk thought it would be diffulcult to make that change and it was a infringement on their personal space. Today, most folks feel naked with out the seat belt. Most do not think twice about putting them on.

To all the intellectually deprived individuals out there...HANDS FREE!!! Hands free should be the only way someone is allowed to talk on a cell phone while driving. You don't even need to dial the numbers when using voice activation. Get a clue...clueless.

So, Hands free is the ultimate answer? You need two hands on the wheel to drive? The point is no
phones, make-up, newspapers, while driving...We'll
let you chew gum and drive because, you are the only intelligent driver on the road..

I agree that it is not smart to talk on the phone while driving but I don't agree that she deserved to die because of it. That is cruel and heartless to say. A family has lost a loved one and a young girl has lost her life, show some respect.

Bummer. Makes you think twice about talking on the phone and driving. That is why I don't. I can wait until I get to where i'm going to call the person back.

Driving is a big responsibility. But somewhere along the way people have let their guards down and now we have roadways full of people doing all sorts of things like reading, eating, applying makeup, etc. It is scary out there sometimes.
