Everyone in Albany should thank the wellness (YMCA) board members and Brother Bobby Grant for a job well done, for a town as small as Albany to have this being built is a blessing that everyone should be proud to have. I know Brother Grant will work very hard to make a positive enviroment for each and everyone in our community to enjoy! Good Work and God Bless!!

Everybody knows this is a disaster that will break the county. Everybody knows that the average family can't afford it, that it's more taxpayer money for the rich. I've ask about the costs to join and to run this place and know one knows.
Brother grant won't say and neither will the YMCA board.

not all know it will be a disaster, and I really hope it isn't. But what can be done about it I still believe since it is going to be run by a private party that maybe it will give our kids a swimming pool and a place to go. Unless you know first hand I don't really see how this can hurt us.

There are plenty of families in this county that can afford to join, and will, because family time will be a priority. I will go you one even better. If all of the people who make/sell drugs in this county would get a real job, they might be able to afford it too! Very tired of supporting people who draw a check and are more capable of working than I am. You all clean out the sinus pills from the $ store to cook Meth, and when someone like myself goes in there needing some Sudafed for a sinus infection, I had to drive to Certicare and pay 3 times the price just to be able to breathe. Don't even have that option now. Get your life together, and your priorities in order. Put down those cigarettes, or that case of beer, stop eating out every night at McDonalds, and save a little $ to join the YMCA, and make it a time for your family to enjoy together. You will make something happen if you want it to happen. Those of you who don't really want to be a part of it are just on here to have someting to bitch about.

I am very excited about the YMCA coming to Albany! I plan to be a very active supporter/participator. I think this center will lead to many good things within our community. Kids that are not already on sports teams will have a chance/place to practice and learn in a comfortable environment where the other kids are at the same experience level. This will lead to our school sports teams to perform at higher levels. Also adults will have the chance to play in league sports like volleyball, basketball, etc. We need the YMCA!! It's going to bring so many activities and safe forms of entertainment for the youth in Albany.

WELL SAID!! I have to take a drug test where i work and have no problem doing it, what i do have a problem with is those who draw a check need to take a drug test also. i don't mind helping those in need, what i do have a problem with is those who set on their ass, draw a check, watch tv, and do drugs.

I think the YMCA will be very good for those people who can afford it. However, there are still good people that DO work EVERYDAY and still will not have the money to afford it. Some of us do live week to week and can not afford it. It will be a nice place if they keep it clean and don't let the druggies and hispanics take over. It would be nice to be able to eat out all the time. But most of us can't afford it. And you know that there will be those people that will join the YMCA to look big in public but they can't afford to feed their kids. This town is filled with those people. It will last for a while until the "new" wears off and there is some kind of scandal over money. I do hope it does well. But this is Albany and there isn't much that can thrive in this community.
lets wait and see

when we are always thinking of the problems that come along with this then yes it will fail. But if we look at it as a place for the kids to swim in the summer and have activities that keeps them off the streets maybe it will work. Does any one know what it is going to cost or are you just guessing.

It seems that the welcome center was a big waste but yet maybe some one will have brains enough to use it for the good of the community. I hope so any way.

So we all just have to wait and hope that YMCA will be a place that will help us and not be a burden on us.

The facility is being built with grant money, so even if it does fail, we will not be out anything at the county level.

I'm very thankful there will finally be a place to lap swim. I just wish they had not removed the racquetball court from the design.

I read in the paper that the county is spending $12,000. to excavate the road.
I agree that our county can't support it, Wayne county couldn't.

How do you know this, when you don't know the cost? And how many families are you talking about?--ten, fifty, one hundred?
What is the cost?

So! If I can't afford the YMCA, it's because I'm a Meth makin', Check drawin', Sudafed buyin', cigarette smokin', beer drinkin', McDonald's eatin' bitcher. Who is obviously a terrible parent.

Where is the YMCA going to be? Does anyone know the cost of membership? It might be a great thing for our county.

Aren't you tired of them wasting our grant money like they did on the Welcome Center. Just because it's grant money doesn't mean you should do something dumb. Whose going to pay the $250,000.00 a year to keep it open?

All of us taxpayers are already paying for it, just read the paper.
But we won't get to use it. Thanks Lyle, thanks Willard, thanks for showing us your true colors.
