Mary- did it finally work? I am so glad. I think I will scan in the pages anyway for everyone to see.

I just started reading Cruel Sacrifice- I know it's supposed to be sensationalist, but I couldn't find the other book at B&N. It's disturbing nonetheless.

I hate to "gossip" on this, but the story itself obviously has lasted so long in people's memories and hearts that we still continue to talk about it over ten years later. I was thinking about why this is. I wonder if some of it has to do with, not only were these girls young, but they were girls, and we certainly don't expect girls to carry out these acts. It's still surprising when boys do it- but yet- when girls murder, and go against what society expects from them- it's all the more confusing to us... I'm still wrapping my head around everything as you can see.

The other thing I was going to say- was out of all four girls, something is extremely disturbing about Laurie. Even though Melinda apparently suffered severe abuse at home (or supposedly? I'm not sure), Laurie comes off as the creepiest of all. Like she would have killed anyone, unprovoked, eventually, someday.

Also- is the fact that all four girls identified themselves as lesbian/bisexual make the case stranger? Or does it help to "other" them, and make them all the more menacing to a country that isn't accepting of homosexuality? Would it be any different if these girls were straight and fighting over a boy? Just wondering what people thought.

I think the outcome would have been the same if Melinda Loveless was in a hetro relationship and Shanda had become involved with her boyfriend. Of course that is just my own opinion.

Regarding your other post, I think that there were so many dynamics of the Shanda story that caused the case to be so sensationalized by the media and made people stop and think about their own children.

The fact that the 4 murderers were girls was definately one of them IMO. Also that the torture and murder was so brutal, that so many friends of Melinda heard over and over that she wanted to kill Shanda yet said nothing was another.

Even after Shanda was murdered and the girls had told people, they kept the secret until the police sought them out.

Megan, Little Lost Angel is no longer in print. You will have to purchase a used copy. I believe it is on Ebay and at Amazon.com .

Cruel Sacrifice was thrown together pretty fast by Jones. Melinda and her family were sources for a lot of the info in that book.

Jacque and Steve Sharer endorsed Little Lost Angel and also provided a lot of the info in that book.

Good Morning,
Sue I'm going to go to my high school and try to get pics. On the way home my sister and I talked and I've remembered some people I would love to know about now. How do I look for them.

Megan,
I got my book off ebay. with shipping I paid $8.48 total.I sent for it last thurday and I got yesterday. Also Megan have you seen Shanda's new topix. If not if you scroll down under where you post here you will see it.I would like to get everyone to talk on it. This is Amandas place and I fell that until she can not lie about things she shouldn't get any heart felt words from anyone.
I'm sorry,
Video Guy for being a b---h to you.

These three unintelligent, small town, backwoods, river rat, inbred bitches let this slick city chick talk them into this senseless act of violence...and it worked because Shanda was a beautiful girl and they were jealous.(Hopes Freudian slip)

Video Guy, What ddi you mean here about Hope's Freudian slip? Did she say they were jealous? Of course, that is a huge part of it all, but I was just wondering if and when she said that.

Thanks

Ryan I believe that Video Guy is referring to when Hope made the remark, "You're not looking so hot now, are you?"

She said that right after she sprayed the Windex on Shanda's wounds.

Of course he may be referring to something else, but that is what I immediately thought of when reading his post.

Hope your trip was fun Mary.:) Regarding looking for other friends of yours, I'd start with the local area phonebooks, and contacting people you know that also were friends with those you are looking for.

Then I'd probably move to the online yellow pages and google.com . Let me know if ya need help k?

Much love,
Sue

You are correct Sue, that is exactly the comment I was refering to.
I read Cruel as my introduction to the crime and think it was written creativly, meanning it held my interest and played with my emotions while bringing the main facts about the crime out. I also wanted to know more about Tackett and Loveless past because of their brutality and Jones does a good job of this.
Lost Angel has more information and explains a few more things (like the mysterious man at Shandas door as the girls approached)

You know I can't help but feel stupid because when I first came here I was so angry when I read what Amanda said Jackie was abusive. I should have known then that she was a lier, but I didn't I just said Shanda was with her. I have a big feeling that Shanda would kick her if she could.

I figured that was probably what you were referring to video guy. It was a huge red flag for me when I read it.

The man's name was Dale Gettings and he had went to the Sharer home to give Shanda's brother, Larry Dale, to a party.

If you recall Laurie tried to imply that the guy she saw at the Sharer home,(when the girls went there the second time to abduct Shanda), may have been the one that caused the rectal wounds.

All 4 of the girls have denied raping Shanda. Laurie tried to say that Shanda must have had anal sex before she was abducted and that was how she had the rectal injuries.

That should say that Gettings went to give Larry Dale a ride to a party.

BTW Larry Dale had already left for the party.
