This sheriff has gotten rid of a lot of the good ole boys....brought in deputies that are not from here. Yeah, they are young and sometimes clueless but I'd rather have that than the way it was.....

The Sherrif is doing better at law enforcement than DPS. The Sherrif's often needs to bring its NEU into Alamogordo.

I know for a fact after a swat like surrounding on danley ranch road no report was filed against the gun slinging psycho who beats his wife and terrorizing everyone because the for mentioned last name and family claim to own Mr. House. Nothing happened until a later incident and a sheriff deputy who had the integrity to file against him after threatening to kill the sheriffs and another household where his wife escaped to and thank God for the DA office or he would still get away with it. He and his brothers also profess to have Judge Galsinni in the back pocket as well look up the case on nm courts. There is a timeline of crimes not taken care of by SO.

The NEU operates inside the entire county. This would include Alamogordo.

I would rather have a local get the office then the other that ran against Benny who was pro fed. If you look around the pro fed guys who are ex federal employees or agents have odd beliefs and ways that do not go in the publics favor, turning most departments into fearing the public and making them aggressive towards the public.

Do you even know who "the other" that ran against Benny is? Do you even know what you're talking about????

the so is mostly Dps officers who transferred over. dps trains them and so recruits them. Less work and better equipment trumps higher pay. you try and get the so to run alamogordo then you will see the so deputies start quitting. the workload is too much for a lot of the lazy deputies that made lame excuses to "go brown".

OCSONEU is making busts daily it seems. You read about the NEU department daily. Where do you read about ADPSNEU. Never... Benny House has an incredible NEU unit and i applaud them for their hard work and determination to get drugs and criminals off the street.
Agree. Undersheriff Hunter has a whole lot to do with the NEU's success.

I believe that the success of the Drug Unit at the SO can be attributed, not to Hunter, but to the leadership of its Commander. He has a vision and a drive that has served this community well.Thank you Commander Holster.

Lame excuses like the ones you just mentioned? Better equipment, issued equipment, issued firearms, issued tasers, new units, grant money for all of this and stonegarden overtime so they can work as many hours as they want without costing the county a penny???? How about not having to "fight fires" without any fire training that recognized by the State of New Mexico and then zero fire training following thier initial 30 days, other than some Sgt. who is also not certified in anything to with fire running some crappy training every other Sunday.

That office is totally political around here. The election itself laid that bare. Even the Commission Chair noted his support of Wally for the job until he ran on the wrong party ticket. Framed like that you get a politician sheriff thinking in the same political terms that brung him.

He violates hiring protocal, and hires his political friend's or their children. Yes, their children, fresh out of high school. He allows Hunter, his Undersheriff, to do whatever he wants... and acknowledges that he doesn't agree with what Hunter does, but since it gets results, that's ok. He is just like Blansett, in that he targets deputies, and holds a grudge, creating a hostile working environment... and takes credit for the work of others, namely receiving kudos for the work the deputies are completeing, even though none of the current deuties were hired by him.... but, you the citizens, will reap the rewards of the idiots he did hire for years to come.... ENJOY...
At least he got rid of the corrupt good ole' boys. These new deputies are respectful, kind and do their job, unlike the old deputies. At least he cleaned house!

You know, people keep saying House “got rid of the good ole boys”. What good ole boys did he get rid of? He has actually tried to hire his “good ole boys”. As an employee of the Sheriff’s Office I know since House has taken over there have only been two deputies leave. One left because he screwed up not because House got rid of him and the other was a Sgt. that went to the DA’s Office. Then one of the dog catchers left who took a pay cut just to get out of the department.

Then someone mentioned House got rid of Leon Leadbetter. Ledbetter retired before House even became Sheriff. As for the new deputies, he hired Kyle Graham (political hire), one that lasted two months and resigned because he lied and now another. Now we also have another DPS officer who was a Sgt there and one from Tularosa. O’ yea then Ken Selman is back as the dog catcher (another rub my back hire). Let’s not talk about the idiot dispatchers he has hired.

So, please let us know who he “got rid” of?
