From the Department of Labor press release this morning:

In the week ending November 10, the advance figure for seasonally adjusted initial claims was 439,000, an increase of 78,000 from the previous week's revised figure of 361,000. The 4-week moving average was 383,750, an increase of 11,750 from the previous week's revised average of 372,000.

Some of the new claims, especially in New Jersey, were due to Hurricane Sandy--but these were offset by a decline in claims filed in New York. The highest numbers of new filings came from Pennsylvania and Ohio, where there were thousands of layoffs in the construction, manufacturing, and automobile industries.

Both states had been targeted by the presidential campaigns. President Obama highlighted his record of job creation in Ohio in particular, focusing on the automobile industry. The state reported 6,450 new jobless claims in the week after the election--second-highest after Pennsylvania, which recorded 7,766 new claims.

Good to see those 47%'s and union thugs losing their jobs...thank you obamaroid LOL

It is not good when anyone loses their job...

Anyone thinking any politicans we have put in office cares enough to really make changes is expecting too much.

The Takers have voted, Now as more providers are w/o jobs, expect more of the same from the left, Blame Bush that it was way worse than they could have ever thought...

Now we are told that taxing the 2% will generate 80 billion dollars per year, we spend that in a week, still waiting for the truth from the left, everyone has to cut, even the Takers.

Hostess, the maker of Twinkies and Wonder Bread, plans to go out of business, lay off its 18,500 workers and sell its snack cake and bread brands.

The Irving, Texas, company said a nationwide strike crippled its ability to make and deliver its products, which also include Ding Dongs, Ho Ho's and Home Pride bread.

union pukes doing what they do best...destroy business...guess it is better to not have a job than to have one...only a union puke would think this way

Just look at it as an opportunity to lose some weight. You'll no longer be able to shove twinkies in your mouth non stop. Perhaps thats a good thing.
