Why don't you tell your fellow democrats in Santa Fe to pull their heads out of their arses and vote to repeal the bill allowing illegals to obtain drivers licenses?

I'm with Ms Provencher on this one - though Susana Martinez seems to be doing a decent job so far - Not that I vote so much along party lines, just that the usual Republican stand on treating other human beings (and their opinions) with respect(see True American Patriot's post) is totally beyond my comprehension - and I am grateful that it is so! Yuk!
How come Pearce voted the way he did on refinancing FHA mortgages, anyhow ??? Republicans seem (in my opinion) to be treating the working middle class as just so much fertilizer... Patriot, don't forget, it was the partly the previous administration (and their deregulation policies, brought to you by John McCain and cronies - see McCain's ties to the Lincoln Saving and Loan exec) that left our economy in this nasty and far-reaching shambles.

You are right, Dawn. The future and hope of New Mexico is not in the largely symbolic stances of the newly elected governor of New Mexico, but in uniting the people of a state so that we can all live better lives. The license issue is not about making our license better, but weeding out a statistically insignificant problem in the attainment of license. We have to protect ourselves locally from ideologues from out of state, and announce clearly that we have a state in which all are welcome.
I, too, am proud of our local leadership.

You can be a registered Democrat all you want, I certainly won't fault anyone for caucusing with a particular party.

What I WILL fault someone for is blindly pulling a lever simply because a candidate has a "D" or an "R" next to their name.

The thing is, MadHatt77, we get to vote how we damn well please and if we want to vote a straight ticket, we will.

Of course you can, it is certainly your right ... just as it is your right to also be an idiot when you do so.

Some people just don't like coloring in all those circles. So they just color in ONE circle for the party.

Before the attacks, I am joking .....

At my age it is difficult to stay within the circles.

Nowadays Republicans seem more interested in those symbolic gestures, even when pursuitng them means we're not working on solutions to actual problems of the majority of citizens. Gay marriage, denying women the right to choose, these are the Republicans' grand issues.

The Republican Party has a great platform for the most part. If Republicans would only follow their own platform, we would not be in such bad shape.

As it is, the GOP is assuring the transfer of wealth into the pockets of the already wealthy. So we still have Socialism for the rich and Capitalism for the poor. State policies assure that more resources flow to the rich than to the poor.

What exactly is the democratic platform? Keeping poor people poor and dependant on government? Redistributing the wealth? Bankrupting this great nation of ours? What exactly is it they want to accomplish?

A woman in a hot air balloon realized she was lost. She lowered
her altitude and spotted a man in a boat below. She shouted to
him "Excuse me, can you help me? I promised a friend I would
meet him an hour ago, but I don't know where I am."

The man consulted his GPS and replied, "You're in a hot air
balloon, approx 30 feet above a ground elevation of 2,346 feet.
You are at 31 degrees, 14.97 minutes north latitude and 100
degrees, 49.09 minutes west longitude."

She rolled her eyes and said, "You must be republican." "I am,"
replied the man. "How did you know that?" "Well" answered the
balloonist "everything you told me is technically correct. But I
have no idea what to do with your information and I'm still lost.
Frankly, you've not been much help to me."

The man smiled and responded "You must be a Democrat." "I am"
replied the balloonist. "How did you know?" "Well" said the man
"you don't know where you are, or where you are going. You've
risen to where you are, due to a large quantity of hot air. You
made a promise you have no idea how to keep, and you expect me to
solve your problem. You're in exactly the same position you were
in before we met, but somehow, now it's my fault.

Ohhhhhh Nooooooooo! You know who must have gotten fired to be on this time of day and he brought his dual personality of Just me with him. It's so sad that he has to post as somebody else and then agree with those posts just to validate himself. So very sad. And very painful to watch. Bletchhh!
