I feel like I have gone back into time when people have mentioned some of the old stores we just to have. What can people remember?
I will start with
Rich's Chicken
Grants
Piggly Wiggly
Safeway
I know a lot more but that will get us started.
This is just for fun people, just a trip down memory lane, for us who do like Alamo.

What was the bakery on 10th St. past Washington on the left hand side of the street if you were headed eastbound? They had awesome donuts too.

I remember when my family was first transfered down here, me and my dad walking underneath the Red Rooster.

What I do miss is Jack Wheeler's Men's Store .... I can never find a great fitting suit in this town for my husband anymore

I also remember Andy's Candies on New York Avenue .....

Also remember the music store on New York, it always piped music out into the street so that everyone could hear it while shopping....

Let's see, I remember Rich's chicken, it's now Subway. And my parents were tickled when we moved here and found the Piggly Wiggly. They hadn't seen one in years. OH! I remember there was a nickel and dime store attached to it. Does anyone remember that?
I remember Gibson, and "Turtles, Girdles and Yo-Yos" LOL, my husbands nickname for TG&Y. Goodwill is there now. Safeway, back when we had some grocery stores. Furr's was across the street. And PinkFloyd, I know you're not talking about Winchell's Donuts, but that was also on Tenth.
The mall used to have a lot of neat stores, including Jack Wheeler's. So sad to see that place now.
I didn't know we had an A&W before. Must have been before my time. Nice to have one back though.
Remember Godfather's Pizza?

My dad's barbershop used to be on the same block as the bakery, that's why we were fat little kids LOL. I remember Dill's as well, best bologna around and their roast beef was great!

Royal Bakery, that's it. The old A&W was next to where J&M'S Frame & Alignment & Brakes are now.

Winchell's Donuts was were the Pizza Hut on 10th St is. Baskin Robbins used to be were the Mail Shop is and Kentucky Fried Chicken was on 10th St. in the location that is now that little strip shopping center where Subway and that nail place is.

Fun going down memory lane. The old IGA building on 10th and Cuba also had a little drive up bank on the corner which was 1st National Bank.

Andy's Candy was owned by a school teacher (can't remember his last name) but they had chocolate covered grasshoppers.

I remember Jack Wheelers and I bought my first real piece of furniture, an oak entertainment center when Sheffields was having a going out of business sale.

I also lived near the Circle K store on Indian Wells.(now Tiger Town Karate?)

There was a pet store across the street I took a black racer in to have it identified because it was in my father's front yard. Must of been an escaped pet they thought. That was Critter Corner, also on Indian Wells by where Dr. Staley is now.
