There are the public & UNM-A libraries, the public library Foundation used bookstore in White Sands mall, the paperback exchange, & the non profits: Goodwill, Fr. Hay, Treasures, Community Connection. I liked GOODWILL, they had an interesting collection, if spread out.

Now, after reorganizing, their collection of books is much reduced. Apparently Goodwill loads up the excess & ships it off to central in El Paso. Bad enough that Alamogordo doesn't have the population base to generate more literature here - now we're shipping local donations off to Texas yet? El Paso is the major metropolitan area nearest - they have several public-library related used booksales, non-profits, etc.

I'll be taking my used book business to paperback exchange or the other non-profits. I don't see any reason to subsidize a more populous metropolitan area, & I prefer to benefit our local population in any event. FYI ...

If interested and can make the drive, the old Tunnel Steakhouse ( I think its now called the Tunnel Gift Shop) in High Rolls is now a cute shop with a humongous used book section, when I was there last week they said they had over 8000 used books for sale. Very reasonable priced too. Awesome atsomphere, free coffee and a fabulous view to sit and read.

Thanks, Book. I'll give them a try. Information is good.
