Wow!! I hope this young man didn't wreck his future. Not to down play the severity of the man that lost his life, however, this young man may have lost his scholarship and/or a potential bright future. I'll pray for both families involved.

Such a sad situation and over the damn cell phone and not watching where he was going. So many people on cells while driving. All States should make it a law for drivers to be talking while driving and set the violation fee very high.

I just think it's terrible and tragic how young people wreck their futures doing irresponsible things like this. You work thousands of hours to earn an opportunity for a college education. Then, you throw it away in the blink of an eye. These kids just don't get it.

Thanks for changing my quote for me. A person that causes an accident and a murderer are too different people. Murderers seek out their prey. Accidents happen from mistakes. Thanks for your input though.

Old man had terminal cancer according to family. Not like he was going to live another 5 years. Ever heard of the movie called Soylent Green starring Charleston Heston. Watch the movie it will make this accident more tolerable.
And yet he was coming home from his volunteer position at the shroud museum. Just because he had cancer does not mean his life was expendable. This careless punk had no regard for human life. He should hang for it.

Without any clarification, I must assume punk to you means clean-cut college student WITHOUT a criminal record, successful in two sports and volunteers in his community.
My definition is a drug infested, part time student trouble maker with constant trouble with law enforcement (probation officer optional).
Please clarify....

He's just kid. I heard from a reliable person that the old man said it was his fault before dying. The kid has his whole life ahead. The old man lived a good long life so everyone needs to move on. 7253
Your reliable source is 100% incorrect. The poor "old guy" was turning on a green light that he had. His neck was snapped so he was killed instantly, so there is no way that he "confessed his fault" because he was already dead. Your hero ball player was going at least 80 mph when he ran the red light and killed a poor innocent man because of his carelessness. So check your facts before you post your ridiculous claims Alumini. Your just making yourself look like a fool. If you want to know what really happened get a copy of the police report. I hope your little athlete gets some prison time to think about the life he took.

Hey fool quote your source. I been to accidents as a EMT where people had their necks broke and were able to communicate. At least 80 mph talk about unreliable bs. Did you measure the skids marks, texture of the road, maximum braking marks what is your expertise? Who made you judge, jury and executioner? 8 miles east of Clovis?

It's nice to come over to this thread and see that there are some that feel the same way I do. I've been being verbally killed over in the other thread for defending Emery's character. I agree with you all, it was a tragic accident that could have been avoided. Emery is a good person though, and does not deserve to be treated like a malicious murderer.

That's what I was thinking too. Everyone is so angry at Emery, but I wonder what tr older man would say. He would probably want everyone forgive him, rather than ruin his life.
