No early voting? Nearest place 85 miles away. One booth to vote? Election officials not allow food and water? Overwhelming police presence and crime scene tape??? Intimidating...yes!

250 voters in the previous election, then thousands crawl out of the wood work to vote for their Obama handout.

Since this town has two counties why is the other county missing?

Im really not impressed with the commissioners or clerk, who is now the assistant clerk at 95% of the clerk's pay. They dont seem to have a handle on how to manage an election, or much of anything else. The chairman at the meetings just laughs and tries to look cute all the time, and she asks everyone else how to do things. These folks need to pay attention to the people they are supposed to serve.

People come out to vote when there is a candidate worth voting for in their opinion. County clerks are required to prepare for the number of voters who are registered to vote in their county. They just may all show up.

The other county, Doña Anna County was present and accounted for.

Obama won the election and your sour grape are just that. The Republican had a platform that the majority of voters could not stomach, even with the best of intentions. No matter how you slice or dice the election results, this was not a close race. The voters selected Obama and his vision over Romney and his, and they did it decisively. You are just a sore loser.

Im not sure the commissioners and clerk are qualified to manage the elections. Sure, the clerk knows how to work them, but even those with a limited education could expect that a big presidential election year would bring out more voters, and those who live 84 miles away in Chaparral wouldnt drive to Alamogordo to vote early, they all would wait until election day to vote conveniently near home. DUH! Why wouldnt they plan accordingly? Why wouldnt they open an early voting site in Chaparral? They really need to be voted out of the management positions.

They are qualified alright. Not so sure about their willingness to do the right thing. Voter suppression is about the only way Republicans could win that election, considering their crazy platform.

If a party brings forth a platform that speaks to the philosophy and the needs of a majority of the voters, then I would say that the election was democratic and conformed to the ideals and principles of the founding fathers.

Instead of calling the President a cheater, maybe you should work actively within the political party of your choice to find electable candidates and to persuade your party members to get out and vote for whomever you think is the best.

Remember, we usually get stuck with the president that helps corporate America the most. Think about that, if you can! You might be one of those helpers.

Before you talk, you should speak with people that were actually there. The non-partisan groups (so called) were handing out food and water to people in line. The yellow tape was put up by the fire department volunteers to keep an organized line and to keep people from socializing around the area. Also the Sheriff was called to deal with arguments between canidates that were stirring up issues with each other. Also there were fights between voters due people cutting in line. So it was a huge mess, but not what they made it out to be!

It is exactly what it was made out to be. The County Clerk failed to provide sufficient numbers of voting machines for the large number of voters in the general election in the Chaparral precinct. They knew the number of eligible voters for this election and they should have assumed that most all the voters would vote and adjusted the number of voting machines accordingly.
