With a schedule like this one, we HAVE to be in the field of sixteen. What a favorable schedule. Other than Hobbs, Rio and Highland here in our Tiger pit, the pre-district table should be run. With the exception of Santa T., the first twelve games are , or should be , gimmes. We spend half of our early season hanging out in Clint, and Chaparral and Deming should not be able to play with us. We have our own tournament , which has not been loaded with a lot of tough teams. We do have to get by Los Lunas and Goddard, both 4A programs that are stronger than Chaparral and Deming, but we should win those games. Hobbs , Rio and Highland are not upper echelon 5A teams, or anywhere near. Since we are willing to go to Clint twice, why do we not just go to El Paso and play a Franklin, Montwood, Eastwood, Americas, Chapin? We are going to see Horizon, Clint and Irvin in the tournament. They will have a combined win record of less than five games, just like last year.

My biggest issue with the schedule is that there is obviously still a mentality of where LJ and Day think we are. I can understand wanting to get wins and qualify, but we should measure our success in 5A by how we do in 5A. We don't get a game that actually measures where we are until the fourteenth game of the season with Hobbs here at home. I know some will see this schedule and be impressed. That just shows how far we have fallen. It will be interesting to see the Cruces schools' schedules.

We could play all 1A teams and still not have a winning record.

Another joke to laugh about in Alamo. Can't we get better games than that? Has Tiger basketball fallen that low? Really makes one think who is running the ship in the athletic dept. If we're going to play 4A teams lets move down to 4A, you might fit in better at a 4A school LJ.

AHS qualifies by itself as a 4A school, but they have to include Academy Del Sol in their numbers (stupid since non of those kids are involved in any sports programs at all). LJ thinks he's a big shot by running a 5A school. Didn't anyone notice the joke of a schedule he made for our football program? Hosting the homecoming game before we even have an away game because he's scared to loose to the other schools. LJ is a JOKE!

From the Las Cruces Public Schools website:
Las Cruces Bulldog Boy's basketball schedule:
They play Clovis, Hobbs, Chapin, Franklin, Rio Rancho tournament(multi-state), Montwood, Faith Christian, Cathedral , Santa Teresa, and the Jefferson tournament.
While Mayfield's and Onate's schedules are not quite as steep, they are much tougher than ours. This is the problem.
If we somehow do not roll through our pre-district schedule in convincing fashion, and do well in district, there should be no complaints about not making the field. Our schedule will not warrent notice from the NMAA seeding committee. We need to dominate some of those smaller schools

The Dept of Ed has not posted the enrollment numbers for the 2012-2013 forty day head count as of yet. But , from last year, here are the numbers :

5A schools smaller than Alamogordo:

Alb. High, Highland, Rio Grande, Valley, West Mesa

5A schools comparable: Gadsden( plus 3 students ), and Hobbs ( plus 17 students ).

Deming high school is very comparable sizewise, but it also does not count its alternative school students in its report to the NMAA. Its alternative school is very similar in size also. Both Alamogordo's and Deming's Alternative schools are part of the funding formula for school districts, and those kids are eligible to participate in athletics and activities.

I don't disagree, but none of the students enrolled in the alternative school here participate in any sports programs. They haven't for years. The way I see it, we will continue to be a 5A school that does not play up to our level until we get a new, better qualified AD to run things properly.

You are NOBODY & can't make me do anything! I will continue to comment on the topic at hand whenever I please. You are nothing more than a waste of time. The only reason people reply to you is to see you get all worked up over absolutely nothing & watch you squirm.

The first tournaments both JV & Varsity are coming up soon, so we will see where they are after working together these last few weeks. Hopefully these boys can get their stuff together this year!
