I agree completely that you don't run from the police and I would never condone that. However, the police are to use deadly force only when their life/safety is being immediately threatened. I am not sure what happened because I wasn't there but if what I hear is true, this young man was unarmed and running away from the police when he was shot. I hope there is some type of investigation by a third party.
He endangered many lives by driving through such a small community at an extremely high rate if speed. If it were my home he was running into, I would want the officers to assume he was armed. How were they supposed to know? Did they have an opportunity to ask him if he was packin'? Would he have been honest had they been able to ask him? I believe they assumed what they should have. I hate it for his family but right now they need to be able to blame someone else. It's part of the grieving process.

If everything you said is true and the officer was justified, then an impartial investigation will bear that out. Right? Those who are in the right should welcome an investigation to clear themselves of any perception of wrong doing. I know I would.

Zero facts have been given out on this situation by authority figures

Everyone needs to chill out

It is becoming apparent that the boy isn't innocent hence the chase

So let the system work

Police chased a rental car from Missouri across the I-55 bridge into Dyer County at speeds up to 110mph according to the police. The car crashed in or around Maury City and EMS was called. Police stated that "shots were fired." Dont know if the police were the only ones doing the shooting or not. Chase started out as "felony assault on an officer" which could mean as little as the driver refused to stop and perhaps bumped the cop or his car. Those are the facts.

Spoke to a relative of the passenger in the car. According to him the felony assault was because the boy drove through the scene lf a fire at a very high rate of speed. Definitely in the wrong. After being chased from Missouri to Maury City he stopped and began running into the house of his FATHER. He was shot in the process. According to this young man, the boy was unarmed. He broke the law no doubt and maybe the officer who fired the shots somehow felt threatened but, I want to know that it was not a case where the officer allowed emotions to get out of control and resulted in a severe lapse in judgement. I am not throwing stones, believe me, but I think a thorough investigation is warranted in this kind of situation. We are talking about a person losing his life.

Did the police KNOW it was his FATHER'S house? It supposedly was a RENTAL car, therefore the tags would not indicate who was driving. Did they get a chance to ASK him who's house he was going to? 2 states and 3, possibly 4 counties were involved. There will be an investigation but rest assured, everyone will not be happy with the results, however they may turn out.

First of all no matter what this person did or didn't do did any of you stop to think that person has children and family members that might be reading these posts. Wouldn't it upset you to be reading such negative and heartbreaking things about your loved one that you just lost? I am not saying that he did or did not do anything wrong because I wasn't there. All I am saying is that people need to think before they start putting a bunch of trash on TOPIXS!! People do have feelings! Think before you speak (or type in this matter) May God bless you!

seriously And your supposed to be grown. How dare you even think to speak upon his kids or this tragedy.. funny to me. Noone deserves to get shot.. it brings no justice.. now look at your town everyone is talking. Protect and to serve. Not shoot an kill. There were many ways around this. Threat even if he was a threat to society it brings noone justice.. it just shows you that kids see this and just think for a split second. They say this and this is what they know. Imagine our society in 5 years. Nnone deserves to die. Tragedy that should of been reenacted differently, different ways of doing instead of shooting him. Makes no sense. What they do look at his background and decide lets get rid of him. Something is fishy.. murderers out there in jail,prison,@nd the streets. And there not dead..
