Earlier today, Alameda police commandeered a paddleboat from a residence on the 600 block of Waterview Isle to rescue a 16 year-old car theft suspect who had jumped in the water to escape police.

the middle of the lagoon and began to drown? it's like a football field length across at pretty much any given point (maybe 150 yards tops). this is why our youth need to get more excessive. he couldn't swim 75 yards in calm water? though I know better not to swim in it now, we used to jump off of the grand street bridge and swim in it and swim long ways for over half a mile and back. He's lucky he didn't jump into the estuary.. the rip currents wouldn't have been so patient for the police to have rescued him. I'm glad he wasn't hurt though.
