This is just another way to inform us on how tax dollars are wasted on another study. In America all have many , many advantages, thats why all races want to come here. So ten years less in better than ten years more poverty elsewhere.

This is really a poorly written article. It lacks a breakdown of the demographics within' the colored community. I'm sure we'd find that the poorer colored folks fare better medically than their wealthier bretheren. Accordin' to the city's EMS records, most of the ambulance calls the city responds to are in their neighborhoods.

As ignorant as that posters comment was, I see where he's going with it and it makes sense.

People who live the "gangsta" or "wannabe gangsta" lifestyle, go all out. They eat extremely unhealthy, don't exercise, and ingest a lot of impurities into their bodies. Bottom line is, no matter how good health care is, if you don't put forth any effort yourself, it's going to do no good. It's the common mentality of the poverty stricken minority, let someone else work for you while you reap the benefits.

Obviously that doesn't go for EVERY minority, but it does describe quite a few.

Statistically, non-minorities are more well to do than minorities are. That being said, I'd be willing to bet you would get the same percentage of mortality if you polled the poor vs the rich.

Ms. Boyce, since it's health related why not get the hospital's involved, we have at least 8 local hospital's w/conference rooms?
Or why not look into holding the meetings at these business location's:

many local YMCA's, Red Cross Center's, Salvation Army Center's, Churches, any public park, libraries, university, County Council Chambers, City Council Chambers in each community or, Cascade Center?

The people of Appalachica are the forgotten people. Growing up in westren P.A. on the W.V. border and driving through the mountains seeing how people live without eletric, running water and many with out an education. Who cares or speaks for them? NO ONE! You want to see the real poor of the United States, take a trip though some of these areas and see for youself. Bottom line, thay don't vote,therefore ------- YOU FILL IN THE BLANK.

I love how they lump Asians in with other minorities, I haven't had a Caucasian doctor since I was a kid, but they really want me to believe they're somehow an oppressed minority. That's almost as ridiculous as the ethnic group which runs the world banking system and global media wanting me to feel bad for them. If you want a pity party, don't outperform me.

Mornin' Grump...I dont know if UHC would solve the problem or not...It surely would make access harder for those already accustom to seeing a Dr. at will...With UHC the wait to see a Dr. will more than triple...not to mention the quality of care decreases with UHC.

One big factor is poor choosen life style of the blacks.

Maybe the black community should take control of thier lives and demand their people get educated and stop making excuses for bad behavior.

The black male death rate is high because of their own violence. Health choices are poor because blacks condem their own for trying to achieve in schools.

Poor education leads to poor choices.
