The driver who stopped was driving in the opposite direction and saw Kyle in the road. They were pulling over/turning around to call for help when they saw the truck run over him. As of now, we're not completely sure if he was hit twice, but that is what the doctors say his injuries are consistant with.

I cannot comment on anything about the investigation because it is ongoing. The only information that I can say is what the news has already reported. They believe they know who hit him, but the investigation is still ongoing, so the DA is not releasing names or much information about what they have discovered.
Kyle's girlfriend works at a bar. They got into an argument and he took off walking. From there, we don't know exactly what happened. But what we do know is that the witness who called for help did NOT hit Kyle, and I cannot emphasis that enough. The witness was NOT the first driver, and our family owes this person Kyle's life. They had pulled over, and saw the truck run over him. We don't know exactly what happened, the doctors have said that his injuries are consistant with being hit from the front, but until Kyle can tell us, we're not going to know (though the likihood of him remembering what happened that night is slim- we're told that sometimes trauma patients will lose a few days before their accident). But if Kyle was hit twice (which is what we believe happened), then the driver of the first car DID leave him.
I just returned home 2 days ago after spending a week with Kyle at the hospital. I don't want to release a lot of information about his condition, because this is a very very difficult time for our family. But I will tell you that Kyle is showing positive signs of improvement, but he has a long long painful road ahead of him. The doctors have said that he has no brain damage and no spinal damage, and have said that he will walk again, and that is a blessing and miracle from God, considering the extent of his injuries.
Kaity and Amy, thank you for helping me understand.. Sounds like God was with Kyle that night and still is.. May he heal completely..
